Why can't I connect my Sonos with a mesh router?
I have 12 Sonos speakers around my home. Four are hardwired, eight others are wireless. I also have a Boost. So the question is: Am I improving or degrading my overall wireless situation with the Boost in place?
With the Boost in place, does that mean some of my Sonos devices will connect to the Boost instead of my home Wifi? Does the Boost use the same wireless spectrum as Wifi? Its not clear to me how the Boost actually works compared to regular In your particular case, since you already have four devices hardwired, they should be creating a SonosNet signal which is good, given the number of speakers you have , which the BOOST would be receiving and passing on, as any mesh network device would do.

Does Sonos take advantage of the full mesh-wifi capabilities?
Boost has been working great although due to another problem I ended up having to update and reboot the entire system this I think help my dropout problem more that the boost did. It was quick and easy to set up. Sonos is the best wireless system out there. When we moved our Sonos Series 1 speaker to a new location, it was no longer feasible for us to plug it directly into our Internet router.

Now we have an advanced network configuration that takes advantage of Sonos Beams, as described here. Relatively few homes have Ethernet wired throughout. The more Sonos speakers you have in your home, the less likely that you have an Ethernet drop in exactly the same location as where you wish to place your Sonos speaker. My current setup has a single wired device a sonos connect which is connected to my router. My other sonos devices play 5, play 1 and a stereo pair of ikea symfonisk lamp speakers are all connected wirelessly via Sonosnet Wm0. However, I have been having numerous drop-outs in spotify, tunein and the local music library, particularly with the stereo pair of ikea symfonisk lamp speakers but also less so with a sonos play 1 and a sonos play 5. One of the suggestions to solve the drop-outs was to move the Sonos connect to help improve the network connectivity issues.
