The Evolution Series 4T driver employs a "from the ground up" custom designed circuit featuring modern techniques, superior components and much more capable audio tubes. Nevertheless, the electronic features were what Akai pushed forward. Comared to the GX-F71, added to the GX-F91 is a 4-memory auto-tuning so that bias and eq exactly correspond to the actual tape inserted ; the F71 has the function but simplified and with only one memory switch.

Dynaco st-410 manual

Detrola » Jan Sat 20, am. Return to Vintage Audio Equipment. My latest addition, a Dynaco ST tube amplifier Discussions of vintage tube and transistor audio equipment. Ads are not premitted. Here it is. The best part is that it is all original, except for the tubes. No aftermarket circuit board or modifications. The chrome is pretty good too for a 45 year old amp. This amp also has the desireable cloth lead transformers. The best part is my friend who is a engineer at a radio station here in New Jersey asked me if I wanted a pair of Dynaco A speakers, you know my answer A complete Dynaco system!

Regards, Sal Brisindi. Detrola » Jan Sat 20, am Looks like you did well! The good thing about that unit is there are hardly any capacitors in it. The brown ElMencos on the board are mylars and don't go bad. The electrolytics below the chassis are usually dried out though. You may want to ignore all the info about modifications you have heard, until after listening to it and running some response curves on it.

They weren't bad units, although some would want you to believe the only things worth saving are the metal chassis and tube sockets. Back in the 60's I know of several local guys who played music for school dances etc. They used to run them hard and never had any serious problems.

I would sometimes order the driver boards direct from Dyna and custom build amps using them. Dennis Experience is what you gain when the results aren't what you were expecting.

Much info on Dyna products. It kicks! Decent units. You could wire up a 6V transformer in an outboard box to buck the line voltage. An inrush current limiter might be a good idea too.

Anything that will run the amp cooler should help. You may also want to replace the filter can. There are new productions units available, they are not cheap but I think well worth it. Hafler was to electronics as Ed Villcher sp of AR was to speakers. I ran that complete system driving Hartley 's for a long time. It will need lots of work but it fits nicely into my collection of 60s tube amplifiers. I must start to "cull the herd" and keep the ones that are keepers.

Maybe one day, I will ba an ST owner! Untouched means the aftermarket replacement circuit boards with 3 tubes on it or the other modifications you see on them. The 4 coupling capacitors probably were replaced which is one less thing for me to do. I will probably re-stuff the 2 electrolytics to keep it original looking. I will check the main power supply electrolytic in the can but more than likely it will be replaced, unless it checks out percent. I will check its capacitance and leakage.

I do have to check the bias selenium rectifier on the bottom too. Higher than this is risking heater-cathode breakdown. Lower is only increased distortion. This varies by brand of and is especially an issue with current production. People talk about the sound of different tubes Looks nice and shiny. Seems to have low operating hours on it. I think you should just keep it stock.

There are not too many stock ST's out there in that nice condition. Most of them have been modified and butchured half to death. Just do normal maintenance and replace any bad or out of spec.

Tom is right about checking the H-K voltage on the Many 's have been ruined because of this and good NOS examples of that tube are getting expensive and hard to find. Regards, Swanson. I kept the old board if anyone after me wants it back to the original.

The Dynaco manual says I need about 1. I do detect a slight hum in the audio so I will definitely replace the filter caps.

The bias was way off, about 2 volts when the manual says it should be at 1. Swanson, I agree with you. I will leave this amp stock just replacing the out of tolerance components. Now onto the preamp As far as the preamp goes, what's wrong with it? I've had a PAS-2 for several years now; it works for the most part, though the volume control seems to go off-balance to a varying degree based on it's setting gets worse near the 12 o'clock position. Also, the loudness switch seems to heavily favor the left channel, causing it's output to skyrocket.

Otherwise, it works fine. Adam Vaughn Collector of old computers, video game systems, radios and other electronic equipment I don't use the "1. Might be worth looking into? Don't let that wet blanket Bret spoil your fun. Also the can is a new manufacturer replacement. Last edited by Lou deGonzague on Jan Tue 23, am, edited 1 time in total.

Same layout as stock but way better quality. FR4 glass epoxy compared to phenolic is no contest. All duly noted and links saved. I have heard the weak point is the original circuit board and since my board is fine, traces good and solid, not lifting I will keep the board as-is. I just have to be careful when I replace some of the caps and out of tolerance resistors.

I am listening John Lennon right now on the amp, sounds mighty good. If I do have to replace the board one day, it will be the stock board Lou used. I do think I am going to rewire it as the wiring job was poorly done.

Lou, I like the fact you have original Dynaco tubes in your amp. As far as Bret goes, he doesn't bother me.

Most of the time be talks out of his rear end hiding behind a email address. Kevin, If you ever want to sell a FM-3, email me off line as I am interested. The one I bought was a FM-1 with multiplex, a quick test sounded mono, so some diagnostic troubleshooting is in order.

Made in Germany by FT Cap. Install with half-moon section 80 MFD toward rectifier tube in Mark III, using that section for red wire from output transformer and one of the choke wires. Hi Brian, The Authenticaps out of Germany are very high quality quad caps. In a Mark III just orient the 80 section to face the rectifier tube. You want the RED output transformer wire connected directly to the 80 section. IMHO there is an advantage to using this cap Replacing the stock quad cap on and ST or Mark III with one of these will usually give the amp a little more bass response especially at higher volume levels. Bob Latino The wiring diagram I am including here is for replacing the old quad cap with this new one.

So… I finally decided to sell my Sonos Playbar and decided to get a pair of Klipsch rp m. Some have said that the speakers might be percieved as a bit bright so I understand it that a warmer sound Amp would be a good match. Well, what type of features do you want? Well you have a point there as far as future proofing.

Help with input impedance. Hi folks, I'm an electronics novice building an STish home brew amp. Would there be a problem in hooking these up directly? Or should I change the input resistor from the traditional K in order to present a better input impedance? If I did that, what impact would it have with regard to the grid-to-cathode reference for the input stage?

If I remember correctly there was a phase 2 Dynaco ST, I have no information on why there was this added model designation. It may have been an internal doc. It was posted there around You can print out the article. A set of 8 pages has been deleted there that would have created a watt mono amplifier.

Firm price. It's in my daily use.

For more information, please see our Dynaco Page. Standard coupling capacitors are Xicon metallized polypropylene. The original may be left in to cover the hole in the chassis. Each amplifier requires one board. The Mark 3 board also works on Dynaco Mark 2 50 ohm 5W resistor required for Mark 2, not included , and most Sunn amplifiers that use Dynaco transformers some Sunns will need additional resistors not included in the kit. One board is required per amplifier. Note that if you buy a blank board, the board capacitors on the Mk3 board cannot exceed 25 mm high by 25mm diameter in order to fit under the chassis.
