Nikogrel Junior Member. Feb 27, 6 0 Hanover, Pennsylvania, United States. Hey guys, In my Mustang, I have the Shaker It's worked flawlessly for the past 3 years. However, recently it's been doing something strange.

At random times during almost every ride, the sound to the door woofers will just stop I have never changed anything in the car related tot he sound system. When I first start the car, the sound is fine and all the speakers work.

However, once I get going on the road, the sound to the woofers will just cut out suddenly. No noise, no sound you'd expect from a lose wire. They just goes silent. I've been searching online for a solution for days and I'm just getting more confused. Is it a problem with the Shaker , the default amps, or the speakers?

The high tones remain unchanged, loud, and clear. The dealership we bought the car from went out of business last year, so I called a different ford dealership about it. They told me that they have no idea I'm at a complete loss here. Any help other than "buy aftermarket" Apr 29, 6, right behind you. Do both door speakers go out?

If so, the factory amp s may be on the way out. Yeah, they both go out at once. I kinda figured it would be the amps. I already ruled out fuses and wiring. Also, would both amps really go out at once? It's my understanding that there are 2 separate amps one for each sub. If one goes out, does it affect the other? I tried to search, but I keep finding aftermarket stuff. I just want the same factory amps to replace the defective ones for now.

Take the ford badge off the front and put a dodge one there and all your problems will go away But on a more serious note Notorious for loose connections.

Well, the connections are tight. I checked. I even disconnected them and reconnected them myself just to be sure. I'm still having the same problem. After I reconnected them, I was still getting no bass. I had the car out all day and had no bass the entire time. However, I did get Bass for a few minutes while driving home, but the bass stopped again about 3 minutes after.

Now I'm debating whether I want to get the amps replaced at the dealership, or just get a whole new system. I'm short on cash, and I'm not sure how much it would cost to get them replaced at the dealership I'll have to talk to the dealership tomorrow and figure out what it'll cost me before I make my decision. Don't even get me started on how unfriendly my experience with this car was with regards to the installation of audio gear.

Just about every system I put into it was some sort of compromise. Dec 21, 17, Grand Junction, CO. Ok, I'm very confused now. The bass is working again. I took the car out to run errands and was driving a total of 3 or 4 hours.

The bass didn't shut off even once It could be in your Radio or your Smart Junction Box, as both are known to cause problems with the S mustangs.

Unfortunately, that is a common problem with the Shaker system. Here's a closer look at what goes into the creation of these often expensive audio upgrades. As luxury vehicle manufacturers learn more and more on novel tech and features to move their vehicles, we've seen a surge in branded high-end audio systems. You're probably familiar with a few of them at least: Mark Levinson and Lexus , Meridian and Land Rover , Naim and Bentley , Burmester with Mercedes and Porsche , and now, with the announcement of the very handsome Jeep Grand Cherokee last week, we're seeing McIntosh launch an automotive partnership once again. It also offered very high-end aftermarket car audio systems for a while, and has been around as a company since The system in the Jeep Grand Cherokee is called the MX, owing to its watts of output from 17 channels. It uses 19 McIntosh-designed speakers in 12 locations throughout in the cabin. Considering McIntosh amps powered Woodstock and the Grateful Dead's Wall of Sound, the company definitely knows how to provide an immersive experience.

A fan of EVs since the early s, he stays up-to-date on the myriad complex systems that power battery electric vehicles. When a car stereo only works sometimes, the problem is usually in the wiring. However, depending on exactly how the stereo is failing to work, you could also have an amp problem , an internal fault in the head unit, or even a problem with your speakers or speaker wires. These are all faults that can cause an intermittent failure, where the car stereo will sometimes work and sometimes not work, so tracking down the real problem may be difficult unless the fail state lasts long enough to check everything out.

CAR STEREO, CAR AUDIO, CAR DVD SYSTEMS & INSTALLATION

There has always been a feud between the automakers and the aftermarket, particularly when it comes to audio. The OEMs want the customers to buy their upgraded audio systems. The aftermarket manufacturers know better. Even the most up-to-date, well-designed factory audio system can sound better with aftermarket equipment. This is one of the driving forces behind some of the specialty upgrade systems, where an OEM pairs up with an aftermarket company to design a vehicle-specific audio package. Though these often sound good, the problem is that it takes away the personalization factor, something many car owners want.
