In order for First Responders' Bridge to fulfill its mission, we have put together a team of committed professionals that represent excellence and integrity in their chosen field. Mick served as an unarmed self-defense and boxing instructor for new cadets at the Columbus Police Training Academy. Mick serves as Executive Director of First Responders' Bridge and oversees all day-to-day activities. He began his civilian law enforcement career in - with the Westerville Police Department. He attended numerous other training courses emphasizing special weapons and tactics and investigations. In he was selected as a member and then eventually into the leadership of the multi-agency SWAT team, Delaware Tactical Unit.

Federal statutory reforms are urgently needed on a range of policing issues, including use of force, police accountability, racial profiling, militarization, data collection, and training. We also respectfully request a meeting with House and Senate Leadership within the week to discuss legislative responses to ongoing police killings against Black people. Department of Justice has agreed to review Columbus Division of Police's patterns and policies, particularly pertaining to racial bias, Mayor Andrew J. Ginther announced Thursday. On Thursday, Klein said this review will be different than that done in other cities — such as Minneapolis in the wake of the George Floyd Jr. When consent decrees are issued in cities by the DOJ, there is typically a lawsuit that is filed as part of the process. Police Chief Elaine Bryant said the DOJ will be working on reviews of several areas she has identified as "potential focus opportunities. In their request letter, Klein and Ginther had said the city had made "significant progress in recent years in police reform," citing the Matrix Consulting report and a number of recommendations issued by the mayor's Community Safety Advisory Commission, but has met "fierce opposition from leadership within the Columbus Division of Police. Bryant said the review will also have flexibility, allowing the DOJ to look into other areas as necessary as the review continues.

Ed Calderon is an expert in the fields of counter narcotics, organized crime, and public safety in Mexico. He graduated from the academy, served time at the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center and was eventually stationed in Big Bear. In February of , Alex was critically injured in the shootout that ended the manhunt for Christopher Dorner. At the time of the shooting, Alex was an acting detective at the Big Bear station. He was also on family leave because his wife had just given birth to their first child just two and a half weeks prior. In the shootout, Alex was shot four times in the face, arm, chest, and leg. After about a month in the hospital, 20 surgeries, and physical therapy, Alex returned to work full duty just seven months after the shooting.
