I think you can use an active speaker with the blue sound I do. Actives usually beat passives in terms of sound quality at a given price. Complete contempt for evidence-based engineering, egged on by their anti-intellectual followers who make a mockery of sound reproduction just so they can feel special. You will find little love or apologism for speakers of this sort round here.

British audio companies often adopt a more relaxed pace of evolution to their product ranges compared with some other countries and with speakers in particular, models and ranges can go many years without replacement. So, when the company decides to carry out a refresh, the result is always going to be interesting. This time it is the affordable Motive range that has been given a good going over after eight years with some more subtle updates during that time. The Motive SX1 is the largest model in the range and incorporates all of the adjustments made to the range as a whole. The most visible change is the tweeter. The titanium unit of old has been replaced with an aluminium design. This is mounted in the trademark foam surround that Neat uses on most of its designs. Helping this tweeter achieve improved performance is a revised crossover. The frequency points that the crossover operates at and the general design have only been fractionally altered, but the components used have been significantly upgraded with Mundorf capacitors.

For a while now the speaker that we sell the most of has been the Neat Motive SX2. They are that great combination of being easy to drive, small in stature but sound big! Recently we have discovered that there is an improved version only made to special order called the Neat Motive SE2 which boasts a new version of the classic EMIT planar magnetic tweeter that is ordinarily only found in the rather more expensive prestige Ultimatum models.
