Location: Gold Coast Australia. I used RS Gold years ago. They were very tight fitting and as a result were difficult to remove from the equipment. I had more than one cable fail -- probably because of the effort required to remove them. I still have a bunch of them sitting in a box in the closet.
I don't know which Radio Shack cable the OP is referring to, but I had a bunch of those early heavy guage, gold plated rat shack cables, and they were so tight that getting them on and off was nigh impossible. I know you want a good connection, but I have separated my thumb nail from the quick trying to remove them, and I have actually yanked the cable out of the connector trying to get them off. Unfortunately, my cables are packed in too tight to use pliers, which is what these apparently require.

They cost less than ten dollars for a meter set. Radio Shack also makes really good silver solder.

Microphone connector wiring for Radio Shack HTX-212
I used some female spade connectors from radio shack but they are really loose Is there a female spade connector that will fit snugly? I know soldering is best but would hate to solder everything and then have to redo the wiring when my speaker cable comes in which should be in the next couple of days. Anyone know what size spade connectors to buy? There were lots in the store wasn't sure which is generally closest to what I'll find on stock Peavey, CRATE and Celestion speakers which are most of mine. I need to make a longer internal cable for my combo amps so I can easily use them as cabs when there is a head on top. I just went through something similar but it was more for easy in and out for comparing speakers.
