You assemble Hoffman boards using the documents listed under each board What is a Hoffman board? Hoffman boards are classic amp circuits that have been re-designed using my own turret lug layouts. I didn't invent the circuits, I just came up with a slick way to organize the circuits on super neat turret lug boards.

Use the Hoffman layout diagrams, parts listings and assembly instructions found on this page to assemble these boards. Do not use my picture builds to assemble a Hoffman board. You may look at my picture builds as a rough reference only. Things always change after I do a build. That's why I do the test builds first. Some are projects that I have built for me personally or I built them to document a build process. In some cases you need to have major fabrication skills to build these projects. Please go to the Hoffman amp forum for technical questions. If you take a stock Marshall 18 Watt circuit and add in another pre amp gain stage, you get a terrible monster amp that can go from clean to mean.

I added a second gain stage to the stock 18 watt circuit and call my version the 18 watt Stout. I also came up with a way to wedge reverb into to the Stout, which is called the 18 watt Reverb Stout. It requires major fabrication skills.

It is a pre amp that I used for recording. It is not a stomp box distortion pedal. If you are thinking of building this, copy pedal 2 layout. Pedal 2 was a much better layout design. I built this stereo power amp to go along with the stereo pre amp above and my stereo effects unit. I like Rack mounted gear because it takes up way less space, the knobs all face out, you don't have a bunch of gear sitting on the floor, and it's easy to wire it all up using short George-L cables. Relays and switches add extra wire and can add hum and other problems unless your layout is perfect. Add a gain stage to some of my Hoffman style boards and other amps.

Notes: The reverb mod works great. I used this circuit on my 30 watt Hoffman combo amps. Add Reverb to the western electric circuit. I developed this service guide after many years of servicing Fender Vintage amplifiers.

Many Fenders used the same circuit inside with just a few different parts in the same spot on the board. You don't need a special service guide for each amp to be able to service a Deluxe Reverb, Super Reverb, Pro reverb or any of the vintage fender amps.

STOP: Before doing any service work on an amplifier, you must make sure the amplifier is unplugged from the wall and the filter caps are drained. Filter caps can hold a charge that can give you a severe shock. The easiest way to drain your filter caps is to warm up the amp and then play the amp. Do not shut the amp off with the power switch or the standby switch.

Just unplug the amp from the wall and keep strumming your guitar until the sound dies away. Once the sound dies down, the voltage in the filter caps will be below a level that can hurt you.

There will still be a small voltage present in the caps but it is not enough to give you a nasty shock. Typically there is less than 20 volts is in the filter cap after draining it this way.

The Twin was introduced in , two years before Fender began selling Stratocaster electric guitars. The amps are known for their characteristically clean tone. The Twin has seen a number of revisions since its introduction, both internal and external, with its designs sometimes varying greatly from one year to the next. The Cyber Twin, which combined a tube amp with a digital processor, was introduced in January The Fender Twin has gone through a number of changes over the years, both cosmetically and electronically. The original version was an all-tube combo amplifier with dual 12" speakers and two 6L6 tubes for a rated output of 25 watts. The early models of the larger "narrow-panel" tweeds are also remarkable for their refined electronics whose circuit design incorporated dual 5U4 rectifiers in the Twin and Bassman models, another improvement given Fender's quest for a louder, cleaner amplifier. The entire line of Fender amplifiers from to later for smaller models and Bassman was uniform in this look—tweed or "airline linen" covering with a maroon with gold stripe woven saran grill cloth. By the end of the decade, a JBL 15" speaker was available on special order for the Pro model.

Fender has been using the S-1 Switch since the early s. In other words you have 4 switches that have 2 positions and they all switch at the same time. Well, the possibilities are rather close to endless on what you can do with it. S-1 Switch Up off : Position 1. Full Bridge Pickup Position 2.

However, you will need to remove the nut from the backside of the stud that is secured to the internal bumper bracket.

I wired the green and bare wires together to the volume pot and the black wire to the 3 way switch in the same spot as the old yellow wire was stock pup.

When Leo Fender introduced the Jazzmaster in , his aspirations for the new guitar were right there in its name. Fender's Teles and Strats were already wildly successful with country pickers and rock 'n' rollers, but the company wanted to snipe some serious business from Gibson and its jazz clientele. As you can read in Tony Bacon's "Fender Goes High-End: The Origins of the Jazzmaster," Leo wasn't about to start making arched-top jazz boxes, but he did think the Jazzmaster's pristine electronics and tonal possibilities would create some converts. Well, the jazz players didn't really bite.
