The phonostage chassis features four ECC88 valves arranged in a no-feedback double cascode circuit combining high gain and low noise with high resolution. Two inputs are provided, one for moving magnet MM cartridges and one configurable for either moving magnet or moving coil MC cartridges. The 6SN7 was introduced in and is still considered by many to be the best sounding hi-fi valve ever made. The new PS3 MkII combines exceptional resolution and precise sound-stage definition with a naturally pure tonality and beguiling musicality.

Any users, or anyone compared it with other phono stages? I had one and rather liked it. Nice limpid sound. MVV , Jul 15, I've got the PS1. I haven't anything to compare it against, but it's been reliable and sounds fine to me playing the Gyro SE with Technoarm and Benz cart.
The Far North , Jul 15, I also have a PS1. I sounds wonderful to my ears. Mark Packer , Jul 15, You,now have me wondering whether an earlier version Icon would better my Trichord - presumably at a much lower cost if I could find one. I have a PS1 that had the grounding mod done when I bought an amp off Icon a few months later. It has been replaced by a Manley Chinook. Which is better. But I still rate the PS1. Brickie - if you want to borrow, just yell.
I think the ground point is broken just fell off but I just ran a ground lead to something else from the arm lead. The mains block I think. I'm in Salford. Swamp Thing , Jul 15, I have an old style PS3 which I keep meaning to list in the classifieds. It's in excellent cosmetic condition with the original packaging etc. Some of the allen headed screws that hold the cover on are cross threaded, but that's only an issue if you want to change the valves.

I'm selling my special edition Icon Audio phono stage with upgraded Jenson caps and Full Music valves. I bought this new just before the release of the facelift model when it was known as the Signature Edition and includes the MC step-up transformers making it suitable for almost any cartridge. It has had very little use, approximately 40 hours. I've decided to sell my vinyl set-up to concentrate funds elsewhere and can't justify keeping it in storage until I'm ready to get back into anologue! It has been very well looked after and comes with original literature and box. For me the pure valve design was a perfect partner for vinyl reproduction and the sound was glorious!

I bought this phono stage after a quick chat with Martin, he suggested as I was already using valves with my Primaluna amp why not go with a valve phono stage. From the off there was big improvements all round, this is a very capable phono stage open and neutral, this is not rose tinted spectacles. I have now put around 80 hours listening time on it, once burnt in and after the first 30 hours it proved to be totally musical and involving.
