Human speakers guitar

By Carati , October 8, in Amps. Ive heard internet whispers about how guitar speakers are 'voiced'? Are guitar speakers 'full range' in that they can reproduce the full range of human hearing 20HzKHz. Do they reproduce the mid range at higher volumes? Whereas Hi-Fi speakers leave the high end to the tweeters, and have a flatter volume response throughout their freq range???

So, we design, make, and sell speakers, which makes you think we'd be biased, right? Truth is, we're players just like y'all; we balance budgets and try to figure out if we can afford new gear or need to fix the car instead just like you!

I've been amazingly blessed and fortunate to have made tone and guitar gear my life's pursuit for nearly four decades now, I've swapped more speakers in more amps than any other human who has or will ever live. I am the worlds preeminent authority on speaker swaps. But it IS true that I have a lot of experience in this, and I'd love to pass this experience on to you.

It's what I do, I'm here for you! Let's dig in. I think I'm going to start with absolute deal-breakers, here are some times when you need to dissolve your relationship and get that amp out of your life asap. So, there ya have it, my decades of experience summed up in 9 bullet-points. I'm sure there are some I forgot, so y'all feel free to chime in with your own feelings.

Next week I'll be looking at when to change pickups and when not to, so y'all be sure to pop in for that one. So long till then.

Non "FRFR guitar" speakers - Hifi, Theater, Studio Monitors just as good?

We love our loud guitars and hanker for crunchy amps right from our dilettante days. Yet, when it comes to the facts, there is a lot of ambiguity surrounding wattage, speaker efficiency, loudness, and decibels. These terms not only demand a lot of curiosity but they are also riddled with misnomers and subject to false myths that are plastered all over the internet. Bel is a unit used to measure sound like we use meter or feet to measure distance. Sound is measured in decibels — so dB is the most common unit to measure loudness. It measures the amplitude of a sound wave — the highest extent of a vibration from a position of equilibrium. The human ear is sensitive to sounds ranging from 0 dB eerie silence to dB painfully loud.

A speaker is a simple device that makes use of electromagnetism. In a speaker, there is a coil of wire surrounding a vaguely plunger-like device that moves back and forth to create pressure waves in the air. Electricity flows through the wire coils, and the magnetic center pole remember the right-hand rules? So how does the human ear hear the sound of the speaker?

A rumination on the history of bass speakers and how they compare to their guitar-amplifying kin. Musicians rarely see the huge effect a speaker or cabinet has on their sound, as our relationship to our instrument is way more emotional and intense than with what comes after the output jack. In , Peter Jensen perplexed those who attended his Magnavox speaker demonstration with the amplification of a human voice. The construction of that speaker—a conical membrane and a voice coil in a magnetic field—is principally the same as what we use today, although the Celestion speaker from looks quite different to what we are used to seeing Photo 1.

It only takes a minute to sign up. Connect and share knowledge within a single location that is structured and easy to search. In HiFi systems and house sound setups, a speaker cabinet nearly always has multiple speakers of different diameters to handle different parts of the audio frequency spectrum and bass is typically handled in specialist cabinets entirely. Electric guitars don't go far into bass territory but do cover both mid and high ends of the spectrum so why do most all? Hi fidelity reproduction of high frequencies is undesirable in electric guitar amplification. If you look at what actually comes out of a guitar amp, things get really messy around 5 - 6 kHz and then drop off rapidly after that. This is a good thing.

Hi all I've noticed that most brand guitar speakers have a frequency range starting with 80 hz, regardless of the music style the speaker is recommended for blues, rock, metal Is there a specific reason for that, and I mean other than the fact that most guitar sounds don't require going lower than 80 hz? Is this maybe aimed at avoiding induction of noise from the AC power line 50 or 60 hz depending on where you live?
