Supro Super The Supro Super is a reissue of the iconic 1 x 8 combo amp made by Supro in the early 60s. With a single volume knob - and nothing else - the Supro Super lets you hear the full tonal range of the tube preamp found in vintage Supro amplifiers. The purposeful absence of EQ controls in this amps original design eliminates the passive components that inevitably weigh down the raw power coming from the preamp when a tone knob is included in the circuit.
The no-frills, high-gain preamp found in the Supro Super feeds directly into a Class A, 6V6-equipped, single-ended, 5-Watt power amp that dates to the companys pre-war origins as one of the first American tube amp manufacturers. The pristine, high-gain audio path of the Supro Super has made it a favorite of recording artists and guitar-lovers around the world, as well as one of the most popular vintage Supro items on the used market.
The image of a micd up vintage Supro Super amp is featured prominently in the liner notes of the Rolling Stones album, Blue and Lonesome, revealed as the CD is lifted from the jewel case. To capture the sound of the vintage Jensen speaker found in the original Supro amps of the early s, the Super features a custom-made 8" speaker that was designed by Eminence and Supro USA with help from Iowa State University, where we were able to laser scan and recreate the speaker cone from a "golden sample" of our favorite vintage Jensen speaker.

As another reviewer stated, Supro does not make a cover for the Super combo. This cover is a great fit and looks like it will last a VERY long time. Dimensions were perfect as listed. The amp cover is top quality and fits perfectly on my small Supra amp. No complaints here. I have bought several covers from CAC and they have all been great quality and fit perfect. This one was no exception.

Supro amps have a special place in rock and roll history. Jimmy Page plugged his Tele into one, and axe-slingers having been chasing that sound ever since. Both could easily keep up with a drummer in a typical rock setting.
I have lots of 5 watt tube amps, I kind of collect them. This one is my favorite. It blew me away. I bought a refurb and saved huge money and the thing was perfect out of the box. It has BIG sound. I took it apart and while it does have a printed circuit board, the transformers in this thing are HUGE and the components are good and very sturdy.
