GearSpotting great stereo equipment in movies
I saw this movie tonight with some Mac gear in the film It only showed for a few brief seconds at the 1 hour 28 min. Everyone should be familiar with The Departed The episode had him going deaf Go figure. Made quite the impression on me.
Not too long ago I spotted a pair of MC30 amps in an episode of Twilight Zone-an episode where John McGiver plays an ex-battle ship captain obsessed with the sounds of war. Yes, I remember seeing this. I think there was also a Nakamichi Cassette deck in the system-one of the models that mechanically flipped over the tape. Amp, pre-amp and speakers.
Though its very quick and tough to catch. I should have had Harrison Ford sign it.. Wow, that's a feather in your cap no one else can claim. I would have had Michelle Pfeiffer signed it also . My MR78 is sorta famous, too Just finished watching Righteous Kill. Good flick. Carla looked very hot.
Always great to see McIntosh in the movies, and Charles Randall's names used as one of the bad guys. Fun stuff. The General's Daughter with John Travolta and James Woods There is a scene in James Woods quarters where they show a vintage Mac receiver and a turntable right before he gets placed in cuffs and arrested. Here's that scene in "The General's Daughter" at the 57 min. Where is the preamp? Couldn't they find an MX?
Should have asked Ron-C. I guess it's cheating, but don't most grateful dead movies have McIntosh gear in them? Memory is rusty. Serpico, maybe The Stepford Wives? Another McIntosh sighting in "I love you man". Not a bad movie by the way. Look for the min marker in this trailer.
That is so cool Ron I would have had Michelle Pfeiffer signed it also  Or sit on it Just saw Righteous Kill He turns it on right before he hits his buddy over the head with an axe cuz he had nicer business cards Not sure though Nah i guess i was wrong, here is the pic.
Kef speakers, cant tell what the electronics are though. I just saw this movie this afternoon and it was pretty good. This is a remake of the original starring Charles Bronson.
I'm thinking it's a C22 60th Anniversary. The C22 wasn't on the shelf when the place burned; I'll wager it was too expensive a prop to destroy. Don't know about the speaker, but that does appear to be a C22ce. I saw the movie yesterday and dropped my jaw when I saw all that nice hifi gear.
Wasn't really prepared for that ; The speakers are Pinnacle.. Good movie overall.. You've got a good eye. I saw that movie in a theater, thinking it was a missed opportunity for McIntosh to do a product placement. I did not catch the C22 at all. And I was looking -- expecting, you might say -- McIntosh equipment to be on that rack.
Good catch. I even had to look at your pictures twice to catch it. I kind of stumbled across this one online. Film: "My Piece of the Pie. I'm not sure though. The womanizer in "Crazy stupid love" has a setup of mcintosh in his luxury appartment! When I got home from work today, I saw it was on Showtime, in fact it is still on as I write this.
Sure enough, about minutes plus or minus a couple into the movie, a McIntosh power amp with its nice blue meters is clearly visible behind Jack in the dead center of the screen and again at about 72 minutes as a bit of a blur in the background. Yes is the C22 60th, great eye Angel. These are scenes in the "special room". I can't identify the two pieces of Mc on the top shelf I wonder if they are planning to remake the other two??? I don't know if its been mentioned yet but " As good as it gets " with Jack Nickolson.
There's a Disney DVD, I can't remember the title, but it was like a tour of Disneyland, and there's a MC or something like that on corridor display regarding the evolution of music in Disney. Was an interesting sight considering that room, in past episodes, was always such a mess and how would this guy possibly listen to a hifi system!? I thought I saw some blue meters the other week, but could not make them out. Movie out a few years back, Akeelah and the Bee with Laurence Fishburne.
He playing the professor coaching the young girl in the spelling contest. A few shots of a older McIntosh integrated appears.
Always get a kick out of seeing hi end gear in flicks. Weird for my first post on this forum, but I just happen to put this movie As Good as it Gets on as I started reading this thread.
Jack Nicholson fan 5mins 40sec there's a panning shot in Jacks apartment with the big blue meters in centre shot, looks like a feature or an advertisement for McIntosh, Brilliant!! I continued watching As Good as it gets last night, and there are many many scenes with the Mc setup Looks like judging by the vintage of the film the amplifier may have been a MC possibly, and sitting on top of it is a slim pre-amp possibly, couldnt be sure what the model the pre-amp was though, if thats what it was Yeah, I have the movie.
The system turned itself on and off in the movie. I saw that but too. My wife couldn't figure out why I backed up the DVR to take a second look. My wife would know precisely why I backed up the DVR to take a second look. In theory; Fincher is quite busy with House of Cards and Rooney Mara's career has taken off as well, but the biggest impediment is that it just didn't do very well at the box office.
I'm not too familiar with the Mc vintage amps, but it had a look like the with the slanted metal edges instead of flat. Kind of unusual in that scene he talks about how he changed the running time on the song so it would get airplay, but both the numbers he uses are wrong. An interesting movie that continues to showcase Al Pacino's range.
My wife and I also like Elementary and we always mention the McEquipment when we see it. Okay folks Looks like a C27 preamp, and an MC amp. A nice reel to reel as well, though I'm unsure of the type. It could be a Revox B77, but I'm not sure. Maybe Dan has an opinion The meters also would be in the wrong place. I knew you would know! The documentary Muscle Shoals has some good shots of a couple MXs and is a good movie. Yes, I am watching Serpico now. There's an Mc amp and what looks to me like a C11 preamp.
A couple of shots from Muscle Shoals Bosch - on Amazon Prime? Thanks JMAC for pointing that out. Nothing can compete with the beauty of McIntosh.
Works of art.

McIntosh Laboratory Product Placement (Page 1 of 1)
HIGH FIDLITY - or hi-fi or hifi - reproduction is a term used by home stereo listeners and home audio enthusiasts audiophiles to refer to high-quality reproduction of sound to distinguish it from the poorer quality sound produced by inexpensive audio equipment, or the inferior quality of sound reproduction characteristic of recordings made until the late s. Ideally, high-fidelity equipment has minimal amounts of noise and distortion and an accurate frequency response. High-resolution audio, also known as High-definition audio or HD audio, is a marketing term used by some recorded-music retailers and high-fidelity sound reproduction equipment vendors. This includes pulse-code modulation PCM encoded audio with sampling rates greater than Hz and with bit-depths greater than 16, or their equivalents using other encoding techniques such as pulse-density modulation PDM. This includes both amplifiers used in home audio systems and instrument amplifiers like guitar amplifiers. Power amplifiers make the signal--whether it is recorded music, a live speech, singing, an electric guitar or the mixed audio of an entire band through a sound reinforcement system--audible to listeners. It is the final electronic stage in a typical audio playback chain before the signal is sent to the loudspeakers and speaker enclosures.
audiophile stuff in movies and tv

From multiplex blockbusters to art-house classics, films give us a wonderful sense of escapism. That said, we admit to finding it a little hard to turn off from the day job If you're anything like us you'll no doubt find it hard not to gleefully name-check any AV kit you spot in films, from over-the-top cinema systems to retro hi-fi gear. So we thought we'd share some of our favourite spots. Of course, there are plenty of other examples, so be sure to let us know which ones we've missed in the comments section below

Sorry, not in that section .....
I apologize, of course, but it doesn't quite suit me.
