On Monday, January 14, the legislative session kicked off in Olympia with opening day ceremonies and the swearing-in of all members of the House of Representatives. It was honor to stand with my colleagues and take the oath of office together as a group. While we all represent different parts of the state, we are united in our commitment to ensuring Washington emerges from the Great Recession leading the way in job creation, educational opportunity for all, and quality of life. I will work hard to ensure the process is fair and all voices are heard. On Wednesday, January 16, I watched our statewide elected officials get sworn in before a joint session of the House and Senate, and listened to Governor Jay Inslee give his inaugural speech. The governor stressed that our world is changing at a rapid pace, and a new economy is emerging from the recession.

Kotek is so far the highest profile candidate in what is likely to be a crowded Democratic primary field. God help us. She thinks that she can bridge the divide that she helped to create. For Tina, there is no Oregon outside Portland. I just threw up a little bit! We need a good moderate Republican in the governors seat!! I agree, but moderate Republicans went extinct years ago.
Anyone identifying that way are labeled as a RINO and summarily dismissed by the party. A similar fate was shared by centrist Democrats. A shame, really. Ideas used to matter more than ideology. Check out the Bridge Alliance, and Braver Angels. Many groups trying to move past polarization and the loud extremes. Thank you, I am a fan of Braver Angels. With all due respect to Yeats, I intend to hold the center even if things fall apart. I get a bit out of it with their focus so much on red vs.
I may get more involved with Bridge Alliance — trying to coordinate among nearly ! National Institute for Civil Discourse, for example. Great, another Liberal elitist to lead Oregon! Populations of color are tired of the lies! Democrats hate POCs! You use Covid to further alienate us, provide faulty equity plans, along with promoting Black on Black violence in Portland!
The drain down the toilet bowl continues. She is 10 times worse than Brown. However, do not count out Shemia. She is 50 times worse. Just like California, there is no saving this state. Sadly, we must give up and leave this cesspool to the corrupt. All of the Democrats are clones of the current administration. Let me know when their opposition announces their candidacy. I missed the last graf of the AP story, listing the Republicans. Where is Ted Wheeler he screwed up Portland well now he can screw up whole state.

Oregon House Speaker Tina Kotek is making official what many had already seen as a certainty: She will run for governor in That announcement came Wednesday morning. The announcement goes on to tout major policies that have passed the state House during her more than eight years atop the chamber. Kotek had already given her colleagues a warning about her plans. And she joins a Democratic primary field that is currently sparse. In a rare gubernatorial election with no incumbent, the Democratic primary is likely to grow much more crowded. State Labor Commissioner Val Hoyle said recently she will pursue re-election to that position next year, after leaving her options open for a run at governor. But the move creates questions about state House leadership during the short legislative session that will take place in February, months before the primary. Janelle Bynum, the Clackamas Democrat who considered challenging Kotek for the role earlier this year, before brokering a deal. Oregon Republicans have so far been far more eager than Democrats to announce their gubernatorial hopes.

Kate Brown is blocked by term limits from seeking reelection, and for just the second time in more than two decades there will be no incumbent or past governor in the race. When asked Friday about her own future plans to run for office, Kafoury said she had heard Kotek will join the race for governor.
