This is a new set of the combination that I preferred. I used it as a 70 watt integrated amp, there are 2 inputs and it can be used simply as a power amp.
It was recapped in and has been completely faultless in operation. If you have ever been tempted to try a valve amp, it doesn't get much easier to use. It is a unique design that removes the need for heavy output transformers and is light in weight, self biasing and quite powerful at 70 watts. All of the strengths of valve design with no drawbacks.

Sounded pretty fine, though only needed about 3 of the 75 watts! If I wasn't happy with F3, I'd be tempted by a Berning. Love the lateral thinking of the concept. I must hear one of these one day. It must be one of the most if not the most revered amps talked about on the wam. Must be something very special indeed. Your speakers look a good match. Football, I hope. Not the bloody band. Sure is,listened to this amp on several occasions at Steves and in my system,was the pick of the bunch at an amp bake off I had a couple of years back.

We often get asked what size power amplifier we recommend for a particular passive i. This means that a speaker with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms and a continuous average power rating of watts, for example, would require an amplifier that can produce watts into an 8 ohm load. The short answer is that a quality professional loudspeaker can handle transient peaks in excess of its rated power, if the amplifier can deliver those peaks without distortion. Using an amp with some extra headroom helps assure that only clean, undistorted power get to the loudspeaker. For a more complete answer, JBL published a Tech Note a few decades ago that goes into more details about the drawbacks of using too small of a power amplifier. An example is the addition of an explanation of the shortcomings of relying too much on limiters for protection of the loudspeakers and the misimpression that adding a limiter now makes it okay to use a smaller amplifier.

The D is also an expensive piece of audio equipment and the engineering team is very aware of the investment being made by their customers. Their goal was to give the end user many years of high-end sound with low maintenance or fuss. I like the idea of years of set it and forget it. I would heartily agree that they accomplished their mission. The D is certainly not inexpensive, yet after spending time with it you wonder how much farther could you go for better sound and at what price?

Hi there, so being new to tube amp designs I've been looking at the Berning EA push-pull design, as a few of us are considering cloning it. The schematic shows a 6. I've noticed I haven't found a 6. Also, when I look at the output tube data sheet 6JN6 I'm not sure how to verify what impedance should be used with those tubes. I'm confused regarding the 6JN6 as it shows output impedance 18K ohms. Could anyone clear these questions up?
