Epiphone blues custom 30 review

Put another way, a great pedal platform amp will sound very good all on its own, delivering a rich and clear clean sound or applying medium-crunch when cranked up a little bit—and your overdrive pedal will sound pretty darn good into just about any amp. Great pedal amps have been with us kind of "by accident" since the dawn of guitar amplification—before pedals even existed. But in recent years, several creative amp makers have been honing their designs toward the end of enabling them to cooperate well with pedals. The other side of that coin, though, is that an amp that sounds great clean makes a great platform onto which to stack gain pedals to push the sound harder.

Epiphone Blues Custom Messages 34, Epiphone Blues Custom 30 I had a brief chance to play one of these on the weekend. They are rather rare around here and I hadn't seen any, not that I was looking. It was good. Nice open Fendery tone.

Discontinued now, though. Put it on your check it out list if you see one. No ayes nays had one got one love hate kills sux? Doug59 Gold Supporting Member. Messages 1, I never tried one. I remember when they came out, they looked cool, BUT I think they weigh almost 70lbs if I remember correctly. So you looking to pick one up now? HawkeyeKane Member. I always wondered about the other Epi amps they made in the last decade or so.

Only ones I've ever come across were the Valve Juniors. AllmanFan Silver Supporting Member. I owned one for about a year. Not bad amplifiers for something made in taiwan.

Reminded me more of a Voxy type thing than fender but an overall ok amplifier. Looking back now, I wish I would have kept it and modded the crap out of it.

Good potential just not all their. Jack Pearson was playing one for a little while. You can see it on his Gibson 6 part series on youtube. Messages I could never dial those characteristics out of the amp. Right in the sweet zone for tone. That zone is actually fairly broad for me. Messages 7, AllmanFan said:. Messages 4, They're good if you pull out the stock Sovtek power tubes -- these are are what makes them sound a bit trebley.

I threw Svetlana 6L6GCs in there and they give a monster bottom end. These amps are cathode bias and you can put nearly any 6L6 tube including KT66s in there without any need to adjust anything. Last edited: Apr 17, Papanate Member. Messages 19, I've played them quite a bit. Switchable 2 Channel Amp consisting of a Clean and Overdrive. It weights a solid backbreaking 70lbs. Retro Semi- vintage look with the cream piping surrounding the grill cloth and chicken head knobs.

Has a built in fan located in the back. What's good - the stock amp is a workingman's player. Clean tone at 15watts Class A is Voxender and really chimes well.

Dirty tone at 15watts Class A is unique - not quite a Vox but definitely heading in that direction and like a Fender Vibrolux's distant cousin. The Fan is a Engineers touch The Stock speakers are surprisingly good - The speakers are definitely an engineers touch They have a decent tone - however the amp at 15watts through a Epiphone 4 x12 Triggerman cab As mentioned the Amp is a mod friendly - and ready to be changed into a 'boutique' type amp without the boutique dollars.

Lastly the Price is one of the biggest pluses around. They remain a obscure amp to most people and thus are artificially low priced. Having never hit big - they are IMO like the Silvertone was in it's day. Unheralded and Unloved What's Bad: First and foremost - the weight. It's only a negative if you are over 40 and gig nightly in different places.

As a studio amp it's a non issue - and somewhat of a benefit if you like the way amps sound when they couple with the flooring. The Speakers are also a bit of a negative. It's a great amp to have around - blends well in a mix IMO - and does well in a band where someone may have a deeper crunchy tone as it can ring right through. Messages 4. Papanate said:. Messages 1. I own mine now for a few years. Always had trouble getting good tone.

A few months ago i was looking for some schematics of a soldano slo because i always liked the lead sound. I modded my bc30 gain channel with some cap and resistor value of the slo and wow, great lead tone. Now i use the gain channel a lot and for something extra i push it with my own build treble booster, that sounds realy great.

Also the tone controls work better. Clean and dirty channel match better. Messages 2, A resurrected post - cool!!! I bought one when they were initially released. Had it ever since. Will not depart with it. They really are a great all-around amp. Hell ya. Seventy pounds - same weight as my Vox AC Hear's a pic. So, do you still have it?

Epiphone Blues Custom 30 with 1x12" I believe I saw one played through on YouTube.

Played my Blues Custom 30 last night, everything worked a-ok. Turned on the power this evening and nothing. No power light, no hum, just silence. I pulled the chassis out and changed every fuse inside, still nothing. The external fuse actually looks fine and wasn't able to get a replacement for it tonight. Have you plugged anything else known to be working into the same electrical outlet???

Many—if not most—guitar players believe that Epiphone guitars are nothing more than budget versions of the most popular Gibson models. The Custom Pro line is designed for intermediate guitarists who want to step up their game with a great bang-for-your-buck guitar. The Custom Pro is a great looking and sounding guitar, and the coil tapping gives you a wealth of tonal options. The Custom Pro boasts a AAAA veneer, better hardware, upgraded pickups, binding, and a thinner neck, each of which bring this guitar closer to a Gibson.

The 30W Epiphone Blues Custom 30 combo guitar amp takes the competition down at the knees with pro performance and features at a phenomenally low price. Dual-channel 30W AB operation pentode or 15W Class A operation triode plus independent or interactive tone controls and specially designed Lady Luck 12" speakers by Eminence are impressive enough on paper, but when you hear the tonal quality and feel the organic interactivity, you won't believe your ears. The Blues Custom 30 amp's tube rectifier provides bluesy sag while the tube-driven reverb sounds incredibly natural. The first good I am in love with this amp.

UK based Classic Rock Magazine has been polling readers recently and leading by a wide margin in the category of "best rock singer" is none other than Epiphone endorsee, Glenn Hughes. It can handle all of my styles, whether it's Rock, Funk, Soul or Blues. It gives me exactly what I need to express myself in this musical hybrid, from a Club to a Stadium and beyond. I will ONLY play the very best
