While it does get hot, I haven't had an issue with shutdown or anything similar. The AVR is placed in an open stand but there isn't a lot of space above it and the shelf.

But there is just enough to get a AC unit in there. I'm particularly looking at the 17" S or T models. Does anyone use them? Yep, great bit of kits! I have an S8, tried the T8 really wanted but could hear it even at its lowest setting in quiet bits.

So the T8 was slightly more audible than the S8? I guess the T8 may be overkill for me anyway. Deleted member Guest. Never hear it, my amp never overheats even with the doors closed. Finding somewhere in the UK that sells them appears to be a little difficult. DodgeTheViper said:. Click to expand Reading your description Dodge sounds very similar to mine, open stand with minimal space above.

With the limited space above I took a different route and set them either side one pushing, one pulling and it's been cool as a cucumber even in this summers heatwave - and thats on the lowest fan speed! In principle you want to be ejecting the air into as large a space as possible otherwise you can get fan pressure issues, strain the motor s and lose efficiency.

Another arrangement to consider, and working really efficiently and quietly! Really really wanted the T8, but I could hear it and did not pass the wife test who definitely heard it. Bought a T8 sent it back, bought another hoping it was a one off. Forgot to send it back within the required time testing sold on ebay. Couldn't live with it.

Beauty shot View attachment That's my guess, get the S8, cheaper and does the same job! Topmetom 2 Distinguished Member Supporter. I got mine when they was available on amazon. Alas they are not on there anymore. Absolutely brilliant they are. I think that there is sufficient UK demand for them to either return to Amazon or someone like Peter Tyson to stock them.

If not I may set myself up as an agent. Can the display be switched off like the T8. Never hear it, my amp never overheats even with the doors closed View attachment View attachment It is a brilliant piece of kit, worth every single penny.

As you can see there is almost zero clearance around the AVR. Cheers for the find. Is that exhausting to an open back in that cabinet? I had bought the Airplate T8 to use in my cabinet but am now a little nervous about cutting holes in an expensive bit of furniture. That could work fine if it does the job.

At the moment our cabinet has more space around the amp than you do but not much at the back - as it's only fibreboard I could cut out more space and vent there There was a small opening about 2" high across the top of the fibreboard but I was concerned that it was too small.

I wanted as much airflow as possible, plus it made cable management easier. I have tried to take some pictures to show you.

View attachment View attachment View attachment View attachment Top two Pics are the rear where I cut the fibreboard away. The 3rd Pic shows how little room I had, the 4th Pic shows the original airgap in the existing fibreboard, it is where the yellow patch cable comes through excuse the dust, building work gets dust everywhere, even on the second storey!!

The Alphason has slots routered in its base, for airflow. For me it was the ideal way to get airflow straight through my AVR. These look good, shame they are not available in the uk at a good price, I guess for general cooling of an avr not in a rack it would be the S9 model?. Potsnack Standard Member. On the general theme of these fans I just wanted to add that I recently purchased the AC Infinity Multifan S7 from Amazon, which is basically two loose mm fans wired together with a speed control and powered by USB.

I can barely hear it with everything switched off let alone when a sound source is playing. I just placed the pair of them on top of my sucking the hot air out and it does the job very nicely indeed. Truth is I would have likely gone for one of the more expensive cased units but there were none available in the UK. I would definitely buy one now based on the quality of build of the S7.
