Altoids amp 97

This little tube amplifier is easy to build and will fit into a small metal Altoids box and can be carried around. It can be build with few common parts, that should be readily available. It is powered by 12V supply and power consumption may be optimized to allow for small rechargeable battery packs. The trimmer P3 adjusts the minimum current limit. P4 adjusts the maximum output voltage. After the final adjustment you may replace the trimmers with standard resistors.

Hello all, back with another instructable!! In this instructable I will cover the basics on how to build this speaker system it is very easy to build. I suggest to solder wires together unless you cannot solder or dont have the supplies to. Anyways, I am a fourteen year old aspiring engineer.

Many of you know him as the man behind the "cmoy" headphone amp, and the admin of the now defunct Headwize forums. I don't know how many thousands of people got into DIY by first building a cmoy in an Altoids tin, but Chu has certainly made his mark in the world of DIY headphone audio. He will be sorely missed. I remember spending hours reading the CMoy thread at the headfi diy section trying to absorb everything.

While doing research for the article Designing an Opamp Headphone Amplifier , I built a portable headphone amplifier for testing purposes. It has adequate current capability to drive most headphones without an output stage. The amplifier is ideal as a booster for power-conserving stereo sources such as portable CD players and for interfacing with passive EQ networks such as tone controls or a headphone acoustic simulator.
