That much is clear as you can turn on this mammoth, booming device which is now one of the most powerful Bluetooth speakers on the market, and justifies the huge asking price with a similar sized performance. The programmable rings around the drivers light up in a variety of hues and can be controlled via the app or with an on-board button , taking the whole RGB lighting far beyond gimmick territory and making the dancing lights engaging and a completely logical inclusion. The sleek black body is fairly uniform, making the coloured rings pop even more, whether the speaker is placed horizontally or vertically. Vertically is the desired orientation though, as it gives you easy access to the haul handle so you can wheel the speaker around just like you would a suitcase. That is necessary to help with portability, since the speaker is so tall and heavy JBL are leaving no gaps with this series, which has clearly proven to be one of their most successful product lines in recent memory.

But personally I really wish JBL did a better job of emphasizing the portability aspect of this speaker. Now first off lets talk about the design and build quality of this speaker. However the backside of this speaker is padded leatherette which I think is a nice unexpected touch which really does help when it comes to carrying this speaker around with its included shoulder strap. Now even though this is the partybox on the go… carrying this speaker around is still quite a workout.
