Considering that the Beolab 50s have many technologies trickled down from the 90s, I assume that they would sound great as well. Has anyone heard it and how would you describe how it sounds? Would make sense to me to investigate on this price difference. Joined Mar 12, Messages 2, Likes 3, Hi Beolab speakers are the real deal. I wouldn't mind a second-hand pair in my Living Room. Strange, beautiful, different. Observing the design, assembly and testing processes informed the story of something larger at hand: a passionate company dedicated to sound and design, but also to people. Four woofers, seven mids and seven tweeters make up a total of 18 Danish-made Scan-Speak drivers arguably the best but cost a pretty penny placed in multiple directions on the BeoLab And as a result, you lose distance and depth. Buried within the beautiful degree design are 18 speaker drivers 7 tweeters. The BeoLab 90 isn't all about brute force though. Getting the best auditory experience in the home usually requires the careful placement of an assortment of amplifiers, drivers, soundbars and standalone bass units, but the BeoLab 90 is designed to turn that notion on its head. The key is a combination of technologies that take into account room acoustics and give the listener far more control over the actual direction and width of the sound that comes from the loudspeaker. In addition, Beam Width Control allows you to select a different "sweet spot" to suit different listening locations and the number of people in the room.

Trips to the acoustics department in Struer are always fascinating, but this one was doubly so for various reasons — not least that this time the company seems to have produced a speaker that looks like a speaker! Three bass units are mounted in each speaker, which is roughly triangular in plan view: the 25cm drivers fire to the front, and to the sides and rear, while there are three 10cm midrange drivers arranged in a cluster — as on the BeoLab 90 — and a single 19mm tweeter. The speakers also have Active Room Compensation, with a microphone to measure their effect in the room and internal electronics to tailor the sound to suit.

You probably could not give a flying pig at Easter who did what when either. Well, that is the beauty of it. You do not have to care. You do not need to know the technology behind the product — although it is cutting edge. All you need to know and care about is sound, great sound. That is true for all their products, but none so more than the BeoLab

Its shape is unlike that of any other speaker, resembling an organ pipe tapering to a mere half inch in diameter at its bottom, where it is fastened to a heavy cast-iron base. Each speaker weighs 47 pounds.
