Not sure if I need to do this. I've got the book, I don't need an autograph and I'm not knocking anyone who went and enjoyed not sure how much this kind of meeting will mean to me. Obviously, money is a big factor right now. That's probably taming my enthusiasm a little, too. Get ready for ! Start new topic. Recommended Posts. To paraphrase Dorothy: 'There is no place like London. Also check out my blog at damselwithadulcimer. The Boss returned to Wembley Stadium as part of his current European tour, and it was well worth the wait. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band: London Calling - Live in Hyde Park

Steve Van Zandt told us that Springsteen and the E Street Band are lucky to have the type of audience that instantly accepts and embraces each new album's material into their live act: ["Y'know, we have a very, very consistent audience that's very, very understanding about the fact that we do different things and do new things. I looked at the setlist the other day, and two-thirds of the setlist was from the last 10 years, y'know? About a third from the first 25 years. Y'know, that's very unusual, I think, y'know, and it's a tribute to our audience, that they encourage it and support that sort of, y'know, the new ideas and the new songs — and they're not expecting a nostalgia type of act. And Sam Moore, outside of being one of the great singers, is one of the great bandleaders of all time. He's incredible. And of course James Brown was an incredible bandleader. Those were the bandleaders that, really, I learned my craft from. All that we do onstage comes from the great black bands and soul bands.

As a newcomer to Bruce, you should be prepared that this could well happen to you too. Bruce and the band have some sort of external control over my bank balance and each time a new concert date is released I seem to go into a frenzy of ticket purchasing. Friends and family look on bewildered. My advice: start saving.

London Calling: Live in Hyde Park

Bruce Springsteen's ongoing quest to stay out of his house as much as possible continues, with the news that he is bringing the E Street Band back to Europe next summer for another leg of his tour to promote the Wrecking Ball album. There are 12 spare days before the Wembley show, then three more before Glasgow, opening the possibility that further dates may be announced. Tickets for those shows go on sale on 7 December. This summer, Springsteen played 33 Wrecking Ball shows in Europe, to a rapturous response, and playing some of the longest sets of his career, stretching towards four hours. However, his London appearance — at the Hard Rock Calling festival in Hyde Park — was blighted by low sound levels, and by promoters pulling the plug when he overran , despite the fact Paul McCartney was on stage with him at the time. The Guardian suggested he simply play Wembley next time he visited London, to ensure adequate sound. However, the option of Hyde Park was not open to Springsteen this time.
