With all the hype that these would have better bass than most other similar brands, I am very disappointed to say they have less bass than a smaller Monster brand I've had for a while that cost half as much. I uploaded the UE app and did the firmware update, set the equalizer for Rock music and there is no bass whatsoever. When playing Piano music thru them, they do have a very clear and wonderful sound, but that is not why I bought them. I would not recommend this brand to anyone who is looking for full range sound. I will be sending them to UE for evaluation, if nothing is found, they're up for sale.

Good music is indispensable, but what good is it if you have poor quality audio devices? I found that the Boom 2 was an awesome sounding speaker for its size though it lacks bass. It has an app to go along with it to add additional functionality like an alarm and the Block Party feature that allows up to three devices to connect to the speaker to share music. I did have several annoying problems with some of the Boom 2 features but never with audio quality. It has a decent heft to it and looks and feels well made. I like the colors of the Boom 2 better than the original. The blue area that contains the volume controls is a dull blue and the grating of the speaker is a different shade of blue altogether; it is a darker, deeper blue than the silicone area and even has a hint of violet in it under some lighting conditions.
