How McDonald's conquered the UK
The team included Leafy along with nine contestants originally picked by her in " Take the Plunge: Part 2 ". In " Insectophobe's Nightmare ", the team, with 10 characters, was split up into 2 teams due to the imbalance between it and the Squishy Cherries.
One team's name remained as Squashy Grapes, while the other team's name was Another Name. The Squashy Grapes have won the most of the challenges of season 1. Ice Cube thanks Leafy for picking her as Pencil rejected her from her alliance. Leafy wondered who should she choose, to which Ice Cube replies that it was up to her.
Leafy then chooses Teardrop, calling her the "silent type", to which Teardrop glares at Leafy. Leafy starts thinking of another teammate to join. She chooses Needle Ice Cube seems to agree as well as she excitedly runs towards Leafy's team. Announcer then suggests for them to pick a boy. Snowball and Coiny gasp, and Blocky furiously says, "Did you just say that? Snowball then angrily glares at Needle for the comment she made, but then Leafy breaks off the argument while pushing Needle off and tells them to settle down as it was time to pick someone else.
Snowball requests Coiny on his team just because Needle said that she liked him more than himself, to which Needle stands up and apologizes and asks if it was really a big deal. Leafy then says "There's always TB. He's smart. Tennis Ball discusses with the team about how Flower is angry at everyone, to which Needle does not like where "this is going". Tennis Ball says Flower could become more of an enemy if Pin's team gets her and suggests that they pick her for their team, much to Needle's dismay, but Golf Ball agrees with him, and Coiny teases them about having a crush on each other.
Golf Ball then argues that they are only friends. The team isn't able to agree on a name, so the Announcer calls them the Squashy Grapes. At the start of the challenge, the Squashy Grapes start chatting.
Golf Ball tells all her teammates that she plans to build a motorboat. The Squashy Grapes continue chatting, to which she asks if anyone is listening to her. Snowball retorts how confusing the plan is, but Golf Ball doesn't care about what he says. Snowball threatens her that he would push her off the cliff.
Golf Ball doesn't believe it and proceeds to mock that Snowball's brain wouldn't allow such insanity. Enraged, he charges directly at her, causing her to fly off from the cliff and fall into the water below. Everyone, except for Flower, who just walks away, and Rocky, who instead gets knocked into the air, run away in fear.
Then Rocky falls onto Snowball and gets knocked off the cliff. The rest of the team, except Flower, get to building their yacht. When it's complete, Leafy, Ice Cube, and Coiny are the only ones who get on board for the challenge. They almost collide with the Cherries' boat but instead, their boat acts as a ramp and sends them in the air, over a bunch of creatures. They also fly past the finish line and fly through several trees and into a different pool of water, to Coiny's disappointment.
Leafy, Ice Cube, and Coiny jump back to land and spot the Cherries swimming toward the finish line where the Announcer is standing. As Leafy, Ice Cube, and Coiny run to the finish, a gust of wind comes and blows Leafy away due to her lightweight.
Ice Cube slides across the grass to get to the finish, leaving a trail of slippery water, which Coiny slips on. Ice Cube slides into the finish line, but Pen knocks her away with his cap before she rips it. Pin ends up ripping the finish line, so the Squashy Grapes lose. In the challenge, Needle and Teardrop are the only Grapes who complete the obstacle course, as everyone else fell into the failures' waiting room, except for Ice Cube who was killed on accident by Leafy.
Needle also wins the Win Token. The only Cherry who finished the course is Firey, but he isn't able to do the last step, which is filling a bucket with water, giving Needle and Teardrop a huge advantage that allows them to win easily.
Although, Rocky didn't write anything on his since he can't write. The Squashy Grapes would've lost had it not been for Pen and Blocky cheating, so they win and Golf Ball gets the Win Token for having the highest score. In " Sweet Tooth ", the first challenge is a baking a cake. Leafy bakes a large strawberry cake to share with anyone who is having trouble making one themselves, Golf Ball bakes a chocolate cake which gets accidentally sabotaged by dirt that Snowball threw , Tennis Ball makes a rice cake, Coiny bakes dirt, Rocky barfs in a bowl of water, and Needle makes a cake made entirely out of yeast which becomes a star in space by the end of the episode.
The Grapes lose the first challenge but win the chocolate ball eating contest, so they need a tiebreaker. The tiebreaker challenge is to rip neckties. Snowball rips his team's necktie first, making them safe. In " Bridge Crossing ", everyone except Snowball, Teardrop, and Coiny fell into the gorge before any of them could cross the bridges. Both bridges also end up destroyed, so they need another tiebreaker.
Which is once again to rip neckties, which Snowball once again accomplishes, making his team safe. In " Power of Three ", the Squashy Grapes are temporarily split into 3 teams of 3 for the challenge. In " Puzzling Mysteries ", the team is down a member, Needle, due to the losing temporary team in the previous episode being made up of Squashy Grapes. However, they immediately win back their number advantage by winning the puzzle contest first. As a reward, they get to choose a member of the Squishy Cherries to join their team and the majority chooses Firey, to Coiny's dismay.
They end up winning and their prize is a previously eliminated contestant. The Announcer decides to permanently split the team's this time, making the Squashy Grapes into two teams of five. Leafy gets to pick her team again.
She first chooses Ice Cube, who once again thanks her picking her since Pencil wouldn't let her in the alliance. Leafy then decides that out of the people left, Snowball is the best. Snowball lastly picks Blocky since he's better friends with him than Firey. When told to choose the team names, Leafy decides to continue being the Squashy Grapes. In the challenge, Snowball rushes his team to tie their legs together so that they can compete. However, everyone is moving too slowly for his liking, so he ties them all up in a ball and tries pulling everyone by himself.
This of course doesn't work and their team loses. In " Crybaby! In a 2 to 3 vote, the Cherries choose Snowball for their team and Teardrop is eliminated. In the crying challenge, Blocky melts Ice Cube with Firey.
Despite them having more water than the other team's, the Announcer says it's a tie and that they need a tiebreaker. For the ski challenge, Blocky does the skiing while Leafy sits on him and Ice Cube is excused due to dying.
Leafy is able to signal Blocky about Rocky's presence in the snow, making them the only team to avoid colliding with him and turning into a snowball. They cross the finish line in second, and therefore don't win or lose.
In " Lofty ", in the balloon challenge, Ice Cube is once again absent for most of the challenge as she gets shattered by Coiny. Blocky and Leafy alone win by popping the balloons of Another Name and the Cherries, with or without nails, and finally place first. The team of four is then immediately broken up as there are no more teams.

What disturbed me most about this story was the way that Schmidt began to see himself as Mister Squishy. However I feeeeeel that this is a basic reading, and that there could be more going on there It's been a while since your post but I wanted to comment to applaud your analysis. I just picked up Oblivion this past week having read a couple of Wallace's other books over the past couple of years. I found Mister Squishy to be very concise and reminiscent in structure to Infinite Jest - Wallace sets up the stage with characters, their various vendettas and neurosis etc. He leaves a lot out there hanging in loose details that are interspersed throughout the narrative in varying degrees of secrecy and verisimilitude, but at no point does it feel unreal, even as he takes us through a quasi- anarchist cookbook.
