We are looking for a sub for our 70s, 80s cover band. We have guitar, keyboard, bass, drummer and a singer. The drummer's main consideration is the weight of the QSC about lbs. However, this means a separate amp is required for the Peavey.

We are looking for a sub for our 70s, 80s cover band. We have guitar, keyboard, bass, drummer and a singer. The drummer's main consideration is the weight of the QSC about lbs. However, this means a separate amp is required for the Peavey. The bassist and I prefer the QSC because of the sound and quality. Weight is not a factor for us. In your opinion, ignoring the weight issue and need for separate amp, is the Peavey anywhere comparable to the QSC? If you ignore the weight and amplifier considerations, the QSC should be a superior choice in every aspect.

I had a pair of PR Subs for a while, and they were solid performers for my application shoestring PA that had to be crammed into a small vehicle. However, if you can afford the QSC's, I would say that they would be an obvious choice.

The PR Subs are only a very basic offering. I wouldn't suggest the PR sub for any band application. Also you drummer will need a crossover which will add to the complexity and cost of that route.

I'd strongly suggest getting the matching sub, in no way will that PR keep up. A better choice of amp if you are inded set on th PR subs would be more along the lines of a GX3 alot cheaper, too instead of a XTI If you already have the xti, run both off 1 channel w each.

If you already have the power then there are better passive subs on the market. I have yet to see a PR sub in use around here. I believe the latter is the correct rating which is the same as the PV I am using a pair of PV's powered with W each and have been unable to blow them up so far but in my case I'm prepared for the inevitable demise. Can yea say TOY was just freaking hilarious but it is the truth. Start new topic.

Author Members. Thanks for the replies. Is this too much amp for these speakers? Harmonycat Posted October 12, The PR Sub?????? Not much for a sub.

Maybe db in reality? Minus 10 db is all but a useless specification. It is not even specked at minus 3 db. Where is minus 3 db? Can you say TOY. This barely qualifies as a subwoofer. Don't waste your money. Unalaska Posted October 12, And the inputs to the PR are speaker level, hence no balanced here RoadRanger Posted October 12, Archived This topic is now archived and is closed to further replies.

Over the course of the past twenty years, the name HK Audio has become synonymous in Europe with live sound reinforcement systems of the highest quality.

A subwoofer or sub is a loudspeaker designed to reproduce low-pitched audio frequencies known as bass and sub-bass , lower in frequency than those which can be optimally generated by a woofer. The typical frequency range for a subwoofer is about 20— Hz for consumer products, [1] below Hz for professional live sound, [2] and below 80 Hz in THX -certified systems. While the term "subwoofer" technically only refers to the speaker driver, in common parlance, the term often refers to a subwoofer driver mounted in a speaker enclosure cabinet , often with a built-in amplifier. Subwoofers are made up of one or more woofers mounted in a loudspeaker enclosure —often made of wood—capable of withstanding air pressure while resisting deformation.
