This is just delete by another name. Majik speaker replacements? I'm looking to upgrade from Linn Majik speakers, but I'm limited to having bookshelf speakers near a back wall.
ProAc Tablette 10 seems an obvious possibility. Yamaha wxc and rotel rb, system is set up in the kitchen, so far from ideal conditions, I was looking for something a bit less reserved. Spendor A1's get good reviews.
The Bish likes this. Eyebroughty , Aug 2, I've also got s. They can sound a bit strange on some amps, such as Naim both current and vintage. However, they sound good on my Sneaky DS so Eyeboughty's recommendation should work even better.
I recall Linn stating they were internally signed off using a driving them aktiv, so that should be very good. But I don't think you need to spend that much to get them sounding well balanced and engaging. Also, Linn K20, K or K speaker cable might be necessary. While a love the sound qualities of the s natural, warm, non-fatueging sound , I have started missing something in the lower frequencies, especially when listening to classical records with soft low ends that the Majiks cannot reproduce. Additionally I am experiencing the sound stage somewhat close to the speakers. Looking at Linn's speaker upgrade options, it seems that Linn currently does offer a speaker upgrade that falls into my price category. I've heard the s but found that they are not a big improvement in terms of lower bass capabilities compared to the s. The looks interesting, but is a little above my budget as are the Akubariks. This makes me started looking at other speaker manufacturers. Before arranging countless auditions at several dealers, I'd be happy to get some inspiration or ideas from here.

Total beginner - Help picking a design to replace Linn Majik s. I'm new to the world of DIY, but have been into Hifi for more than 20 years, I currently have 2 separate systems, my main Linn Akubarik stereo system, and a secondary Linn Majik surround sound set up used only for TV duties. My general approach is to build a DIY replacement for my existing setup which improves on the sound quality - main aim is to replace my stereo setup. To get my DIY career started and learn the ropes I thought a "simple" bookshelf build from an existing design would be a sensible idea. I've looked at a number of designs which seem sensible but I've got no idea how to pick the right 1 for me. Trying to pick drivers at this stage is starting at the wrong end of the problem.
