I discovered this book when it was first published in , and have enjoyed it multiple times over the years. It is the only Arthurian saga I've seen that treats Morgan in a sympathetic human light. Her actions are easier to comprehend and sympathize with when looked at from the point of view of a religious person who's faith is being eradicated. Pagans have feelings, too! At the same time, Gwenyfar as it's spelled in the story is also sympathetic and likeable. She is cast as a child bride determined to make the best of her arranged marriage, and almost succeeds!
