Electric Guitar Amps

This is Model , and appears to be the 10" speaker version and is rated at 65 watts with speaker out jack. No tears or rips. Weighs approx. Westbury amps were solid state and were available from late until around All these had black vinyl covers and white script plastic logos in the middle of the grilles.

Its about 15 yrs old and is black in colour. It sounds amazing and is in great condition. Any info about these guitars would be helpful. I had one. It's now in an LA band. I do have a web shrine dedicated to it.

1981 Westbury Model 1000 Twin Reverb Guitar Amp Unicord Univox Black
Univox was a musical instrument brand of Unicord Corporation from the early s, when they purchased the Amplifier Corporation of America of Westbury, New York and began to market a line of guitar amplifiers. Univox also distributed guitars by Matsumoku , effects units by Shin-Ei Companion, and synthesizers by Crumar and Korg. In the early s the Unicord Corporation, a manufacturer of electric transformers , purchased the Amplifier Corporation of America and began marketing a line of amplifiers under the name of "Univox". Univox-branded fretted instruments electric and acoustic guitars and electric basses began being imported from Japanese contract manufacturer Matsumoku in , [ citation needed ] where they continued until , after which instruments were made in Korea under the "Westbury" brand. The Unicord Corporation was purchased by Korg in , effectively ending the line.

This is when Valco entered the solidbody electric guitar market and where, over the next decade and a half, it would create some of the most out-there and often innovative designs ever plugged into an amplifier. Eastwood is one exception to the rule, while designers have used Valco as inspiration for their designs, notably Trev Wilkinson and his Italia creations. They come in various colours and single- Jamesport , double- Westbury and triple-pickup Hampton configurations. Their construction is identical, aside from a different pickup switch on the Westbury and the triple- pickup Hampton three-way toggle and five-way lever respectively , and block fingerboard inlays compared with the dot inlays of the Jamesport. Based on an early 60s Supro Ozark with its well-known and distinctive single-cut outline, the Island models are certainly sharply made, although the opaque colours completely hide the 41mm deep alder slab body with its chamfered edges. That said, the full width of the neck slots into the body, which has a round-nosed comfortable heel. It features a chromed metal plate, secured on the rim only by the base strap button, and two smaller cross-head screws that simply sit above the face of the body. Screwed to that is a slightly offset aluminium anchor block, with nicely rounded edges.

It was basically an SG body shape with bevelled edges, an all maple body with a set maple neck finished with a clear laquer.. It has 2 chrome humbuckers and LP Junior style wraparound bridge. It played and sounded really nice and felt like a solid, well made guitar. I looked up WEstbury on the net, not alot of info.
