As far as its function is concerned the I is an old-school integrated amplifier for audiophile purists. On the rear panel it has five single-ended RCA inputs, a preamplifier output, and speaker posts. The amplifier can be controlled by a large rotary knob and three buttons, alternatively by the Apple wand that is enclosed. However, the Aavik is far from old school inside.

Luxman plans to gear up in a really big way this summer to meet the demand. One reason for the success of the LX is perhaps as we discussed, the concern that the 30 WPC Class A amp might not be powerful enough for some rigs so this new amp addresses this concern.

On the integrated front I think that Luxman LX is hard to beat and I'm seeing them used a bit below your max price. I heard the Mark Levinson yesterday and it was spectacular. There is one on A'gon for less than what you want to spend. I was always considering the Luxman x but I have not heard it. I may take a chance and buy the Luxman without hearing from A'gon or buy the ML from the dealer I went too. I never was a big fan of ML gear before but this sounded great with the Magioc A3's.
