2 channel preamp with ht bypass
The pass-through feature allows the audio signal from a Surround Receiver or Processor to pass through a separate stereo preamplifier without any signal modification. This is useful if you have a high-end two-channel system but want to watch video with surround sound on occasion. To use the Bypass mode on the RC, plug the front channel output of the surround sound processor into the Tape 2 inputs. When the Tape 2 input is selected, the signal from the processor is sent directly through the preamplifier and by-passes the tone and volume functions. Setting a system up this way provides a way to integrate a stereo amplifier to be used as the front channels of a surround sound system. Only the Tape 2 input can provide the bypass function.

Connecting one amp to another can be tricky to a newbie. Best to be clear on terms used. Although stereo amp means power amp, It is best to call it a power amp to remove all doubt in the mind of a newbie.
If a newbie tries to connect an integrated amp without a HT Bypass to a HT Receiver, it could end up either damaging the amps or distorting the sound. Sean de Silva Well-Known Member. Yet they have preouts on the back. Whats the use of these preouts then? AVR should have Pre-out for front channels. I hope this clarifies your doubts.
Love4sound Well-Known Member. This is not the same as HT Bypass which by passes the integrated amps pre-amplifier. Source direct simply bypasses tone control and loudness control. Attempts above by members to clarify this is appreciated.
MaSh Well-Known Member. Now, I have a basic question w. I don't think I understand these very much. What component should I look to, to significantly improve the music quality of my system, while still using my Denon AVR for movies? I know that if the AVR had pre-outs, things would've been easier.
However, is that the only way? I guess we are going around in circles. That was the doubt of OP. Nagaraj S Active Member. But it has something called a passive preamp mode. Not sure if this is a bypass. On passive preamp:. The debate over passive vs. Is this really true? So many replies. Thank you very much for pitching in and trying to comprehensively explain. Much appreciated. I will have to take sometime to process what is written here.
Still confused with the myriad of terms used. Will go through each of the thread and get back. During my search, I've found the following -- which seems to solve the issue of using 2 amps with 1 set of speakers. Robot Check. Whi dannyarcher said:. Hello all, I'm new to all the world of Hi-Fi.

Halo JC2 BP, 2 Channel PreAmp with HT Bypass
David, aka Grumpy, needs our help. Great news. David is home! It was quite the ordeal to get him home and into the house, but it is done. Thank you to everyone for their support. Now a long road ahead to get him back on his feet and functioning normally. I have started a GoFundMe to help with the medical bills.
What is HT bypass? Home theater bypass explained
Posted August 25, by W. Jeff Meier under Audio. One of the questions I get fairly frequently is how to merge a two channel sound system with a surround system in a home theater. This type of approach will use the main speakers for stereo and possibly the subwoofer to improve the bass response of the two channel system while also having the ability to do 5. There are several ways to approach this type of system. All of these approaches must address several problems if the stereo and home theater sound are going to perform at their best. When integrating stereo and home theater the volume setting on the two channel system should not change the main speaker volume level on the surround system. If this is not done the relative channel levels of the main speakers to the other channels in the home theater system will not be maintained along with the relative level of the subwoofer in the home theater configuration to bass extension in the stereo configuration and the relative level of the subwoofer in bass extension in stereo to LFE level in the theater. Another common problem is maintaining proper bass management in theater and stereo. It is important to blend the subwoofer with the other speakers such that the low frequency response is flat.
Basic question on Amplifiers - Can one use an AVR and a Stereo amp together?

User Name Remember Me? Can someone explain a pre-amp with HT bypass? My question here is that if you have a 5. Can you give me the name and make of the pre amp so I can get a look at it?
What is a Home Theater Bypass? How Does a Bypass Work?
LOG IN. I'd like to ask if I'm reading this correctly. Can someone tell me on an Ayre or Pass Labs preamp when connecting a surround receiver through the HT Bypass input on the preamp, is the amp for the front channels receiving the signal from the preamp or the surround available receiver. Edit Delete. That's basically it.
Crazy idea - Amplifier with HT bypass.
A home theater bypass is a feature found on high-end integrated amps used in home theater systems. It is used to connect an external two-channel stereo system with a surround sound home theater system via RCA. This feature allows you to bypass all of the complex digital processing of the integrated amplifier. When it is active, the signal from your two-channel stereo system is sent directly to the main speakers. Because the signal is bypassing the digital processing, the integrated amp will not impact the eq, the volume, or the gain. The two-channel signal will be sent to the main left and right speakers only. In some cases, it may also utilize your subwoofer.
Because of this, all calls may not be answered. For all technical support related inquires we encourage you to email support anthemav. Please expect a slightly longer response time than usual.
Written by Karl Erik Sylthe, at Translated to English in june Latest update August Stereo amplifiers with HT-bypass- The official list. The nature of a processor-input is to make it possible to combine a higher end stereo setup with a not so high end hometheater setup. Obviously the person would prefer this combined setup is a music-lover.
Home theater bypass or HT bypass is a line-level feature on high-end preamps or integrated amps that allow users to combine a surround sound with a 2-channel stereo set up. Simply put, a home theater bypass allows you to use your home theater as both a movie and a music room. When listening to music, you do not have to worry about the audio compression on your integrated amp. This is a very helpful feature if you are a music nut that also enjoys movies. But here is how it actually works. If your integrated amp has the HT bypass feature you can use your front left and right speakers for stereo music and still use them for your surround setup, be it a 5. This is handy if you listen to music from a CD player, turntable, and other uncompressed sources without having to worry about encoding and decoding on the integrated amp audio processing.
Your stereo analogue sources will connect to the JC 2 BP so you can listen to your favourite music without compromises to analogue purity that are inevitable when digital processing circuitry is in the same chassis. The JC2 BP enables anyone to enjoy the best of both worlds with perfect analogue stereo and a seamless transition to digital surround. The JC 2 BP also lets you bypasses its master volume control and the left and right channel gain controls.
Absolutely agrees with you. In this something is and is the good idea. It is ready to support you.
