Ceriatone build questions Post by longislandrod » Fri Apr 08, pm Hi, I'm an infrequent poster but a frequent reader here.

I've built a few amps in the past and now I want to build a w using a Ceriatone kit as a starting point because it simplifies the parts sourcing. Anybody here have experience with Ceriatone? The quality of parts, xfmrs, etc.. Thanks in advance Re: Ceriatone build questions Post by T Wilcox » Fri Apr 08, pm Most of the guys here dont take the easy route and source most everything themselves.

I took the easy route I cannot say 1 bad thing about Ceriatone quality. My next project I think I will try to source my own parts. I love the OTS that I built though, especially since its my first born.

Unfortunately I have nothing to compare it to, its the only D-style amp I've played. If the quality of materials in the kits is the same, there won't be any problems. Nik is a good person to deal with. Prompt and attentive, in my experience. Post by rogb » Tue Apr 12, am I would probably source the trannys and cab in the USA, as this will save you a load on shipping which you can put toward some nice US iron and woodwork I think it's a great idea as parts sourcing can be very tough and Nik's boards and components are really good.

I will never get my boards that neat in a million years. Nik use all the right parts like 6ps caps in his builds and if upgraded to Mercury transformers, you get top quality amps from Nik. Some people at this forum, tend to see Nik as some sort of pirate who steel designs from the ampgarage such as the FM and and sell these from his store.

The only difference being that Ceriatone has a lower price point. Intellectual property rights are admittedly difficult to protect. And yes, Nik's wiring is super clean. Post by longislandrod » Tue Apr 12, pm This is good feedback, thanks guys. I built all boards and did all the wiring my self. Totally satisfying experience.

I used Nik's PT as it solves the problems of having to power the relay's, but i used my own sourced choke and OT. Can't speak highly enough of Nik's help and advice during the whole process. If this is your first D-Style build you could do a whole lot worse than going with Nik.

The Ceriatone Chupacabra 50 was the first offering in our Hot Rodded Plexi series, and is still a favorite for fans of British guitar tones who are keen on finding their own unique voice. Compared to our Yeti, the Chupa is brighter, has more gain, is tighter, and more aggressive. Neither is better than the other, which is why we offer both! Both are real monsters and are bad to the bone.

I have an OTS Bluesmaster head - impeccable build quality & beautiful sounding amp. If you're interested in the lunchbox I know a Ceriatone.

ceriatone = marshall??

ceriatone quality

Nevertheless, it is based on, or cloned from the famous, ultra-rare and extremely expensive Dumble Overdrive Special. Ceriatone offers many kits to build faithful high-quality copies of famous amplifiers, and it also sell fully assembled amplifiers like this one. In our case, the manufacturing quality is very high with a very clean layout and good solder joints The main issue of this amplifier was a damaged output jack. The Dumble ODS being so rare, it is very difficult to determine if the Ceriatone is faithful to its inspiration from an aural point of view.

Since , Ceriatone has been producing entirely hand-built amps, backed by cutting-edge design prowess, to compete with just about any of the boutique makers on either side of the pond, while often ruffling quite a few feathers in the process. A guitarist and tube-amp enthusiast from a young age, Nik Azam gained his formal training in electrical and computer engineering at the highly respected Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the late s.

Ceriatone. Let's Be Honest Here...

By ourdarkestdays , August 3, in Amps. Ive played a couple ceriatones and they all sound really good. But from what ive been hearing they lack over all quality. So they have good tone but a crappy build. I hear that the wiring is bad and that they arent to reliable.

Ceriatone might be a better choice for me. Badge, concept, pedigree and all that aside -- just talking tone and build quality -- what do you.

I don't own one but from what I have seen online I would buy one in a heartbeat. May pull the trigger one of these days but I dont need another amp right now. Hopefully you are ready for just how loud a w head is. I have an '84 that hasnt been above 2 on the master in about 5 years now lol.
