Small speaker amplifier circuit
I built about a dozen different audio amplifier circuits with the LM but most of them had way too much noise, popping, and other interference. I added a bunch of extra capacitors to reduce the noise, and I added a bass boost control as well to make it sound even better. But before we start building, it might be helpful to get a little background information first…. The LM is quite a versatile chip. Only a couple resistors and capacitors are needed to make a working audio amplifier. The chip has options for gain control and bass boost, and it can also be turned into an oscillator capable of outputting sine waves or square waves.

The AMP20 is a mini stereo power amplifier with a power rating of 2 x 15 Watt, that lends itself perfectly to small speaker systems requiring compact and economical audio solutions. It offers the ideal solution for applications such as class rooms, offices and meeting rooms where only a small amount of speakers are required. The compact size and very high efficiency makes it perfectly suited to be hidden in a closet, on a false ceiling or mounted under a desk or table.
The combination of the stereo balanced line, with microphone input, makes it perfectly suited for applications where it should be used in combination with projection screens and video sources while a microphone is connected. Two gain potentiometers make it possible to control the sensitivity and balance between music and speech, while a switch allows bridging of the output channels to obtain one channel with merged output power.
A remote wall mixer can be connected for applications where local mixing for the inputs is desirable, while large distances can be covered between the source and amplifier using simple CAT5 twisted pair cabling. The volume controller input allows connection of an additional wall controller for overall volume control. The Class-D amplifier technology, standby mode and included switching power supply makes this device compliant to the highest energy efficiency and environmental requirements.
It approximates operating with music or voice with light clipping and represents the amplifier's typical "clean" maximum level, without audible clipping. It approximates operating with music or voice with very heavy clipping and a very compressed dynamic range. Full Power Current draw at full power is measured with a sine wave at its maximum possible level. However, it does not represent any real-world operating condition and represents the absolute extremes that an amplifier could ever experience.

Class D Audio Amplifiers: What, Why, and How
Class D amplifiers, first proposed in , have become increasingly popular in recent years. What are Class D amplifiers? How do they compare with other kinds of amplifiers? Why is Class D of interest for audio? Find the answers to all these questions in the following pages. The goal of audio amplifiers is to reproduce input audio signals at sound-producing output elements, with desired volume and power levels—faithfully, efficiently, and at low distortion. Audio frequencies range from about 20 Hz to 20 kHz, so the amplifier must have good frequency response over this range less when driving a band-limited speaker, such as a woofer or a tweeter. A straightforward analog implementation of an audio amplifier uses transistors in linear mode to create an output voltage that is a scaled copy of the input voltage. The forward voltage gain is usually high at least 40 dB. If the forward gain is part of a feedback loop, the overall loop gain will also be high.

If you are looking for a compact and inexpensive add-on audio amplifier for your digital surround sound system or computer, then this subwoofer amplifier circuit is suitable for your needs. It delivers 15W per channel in stereo mode and about 29W in bridge mono mode from a box as small as a house brick. Many low-cost DVD players availabe in the market do not have in-builtaudio amplifiers. To enjoy stereophonic sound, you have to buy separate left and right speakers.
Audio power amplifier
An audio power amplifier or power amp is an electronic amplifier that amplifies low-power electronic audio signals such as the signal from radio receiver or electric guitar pickup to a level that is high enough for driving loudspeakers or headphones. Audio power amplifiers are found in all manner of sound systems including sound reinforcement , public address and home audio systems and musical instrument amplifiers like guitar amplifiers. It is the final electronic stage in a typical audio playback chain before the signal is sent to the loudspeakers. The preceding stages in such a chain are low power audio amplifiers which perform tasks like pre-amplification of the signal this is particularly associated with record turntable signals, microphone signals and electric instrument signals from pickups, such as the electric guitar and electric bass , equalization e. The inputs can also be any number of audio sources like record players , CD players , digital audio players and cassette players. Most audio power amplifiers require these low-level inputs, which are line level.

For some simple applications such as toys, intercom, or small gadgets, there is sometimes a need for small, simple, low cost, or low voltage solution of power amplifier circuit. For this requirement, high fidelity is rarely needed. Take a look at the schematic diagram of the circuit shown in Figure 2.
Modest power audio amplifiers for driving small speakers or other light loads can be constructed in a number of ways. The first choice is usually an integrated circuit designed for the purpose such as the LM or newer class D switching types that often accept digital data instead of simple audio voltage. Discrete designs can also be built with readily available transistors or op-amps and many designs are featured in manufacturers' application notes. Older designs employed audio interstage and output transformers but the cost and size of these parts has made them all but disappear. Here are a few easy-to-build analog audio amplifier circuits for a variety of hobby applications:.
Electrical Engineering Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for electronics and electrical engineering professionals, students, and enthusiasts. It only takes a minute to sign up. Connect and share knowledge within a single location that is structured and easy to search. For a lab class we were assigned a final project where we have to design an amplifier using BJTs, diodes, and capacitors MOSFETs are not allowed in order to drive an 8-ohm speaker. The requirements given are as follows:.
ClassAB power amplifiers can also be used but ClassD is more preferred because of its light weight and low heat dissipation characteristics. Audio amplifiers are used in many application from Radio wave transmitter, Hi-fi devices, Home audio systems, talking toys, Robots and even in military as an acoustic weapon. A basic power amplifier that is designed to take input as the low strength audio signal and generate the output signal that consists of the high strength value.
