Listening to digital tracks as well as vinyl, I was impressed with the extension on both ends of the spectrum. There was lots of air around and between the instruments and the headphone amplifier is admirably silent. Transparency and detail was abundant, yet this came always with a sense of warmth. The piano strokes were clearly placed to the right and just beyond the wall, and portrayed with the glow and warmth of the instrument. Her voice possessed life, with detail, delicacy and presence. Notes flowed with ease, palpable and smooth, while the lower register carried substantial mass, portraying lifelike size. The imaging and soundstaging capabilities of the A-S were fabulous.
Both models feature advanced original circuitry that eliminates signal loss for the delivery of dynamic audio when listening to any genre of music. Excellent quality bass is achieved by the same world-class original amplifier circuit from the flagship A-S model. The A-S employs a customized original EI transformer and four large capacity carbon sheath capacitors that deliver dynamic sound even at the highest volumes. Its left-right symmetrical design, with the power supply in the center and the power amp blocks on the ends, achieves greater separation for superior two-channel stereo reproduction.
