I'm thinking the might have a little more low end. Is there anything that could be done to the to make it sound closer to the ? YOu thought right. You get more headroom and it fills the room better. If its mic'd live, it don't really matter. Well I'm in the process of selling off all of my gear, I don't gig anymore.
I'm looking to get a combo to use at home and maybe the occasional jam or sit in. I'll most likely go ss, either Crate, don't laugh they sound pretty good for ss, or Tech I don't care for modeling amps.
I know they both have and combos. I'm thinking a and putting in a good speaker might work for my needs. If you aren't going to be playing very loudly very often, I would go with the 1x Speakers sound best when they are pushed.
You will be able to push the 1x12 more at a lower volume than the 2x They are pretty good. They are built more the ampeg specs than to traditional crate specs. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone. I used to gig with a 1x12 combo plus a 1x12 extension cab, one stage left and one stage right and was very happy with my sound. It also spread my sound around the stage and made it easier for the rest of the band to hear me without needing to turn up too loud.
