Posted by AJ Smit on November 06, at Dear all I have recently auditioned the Exposure CD player and integrated amp with Royd Doublets and Royd Abbots and was very impressed with the sound quality the Abbots are preferable in the lower frequencies, but the amp may be somewhat underpowered. A second choice is from Arcam. Here, however, I was disappointed. Are these speakers suited for use with the Arcams? What other speakers can I add to my shortlist? So far I much prefer the Exposure-based system, but if anyone can pursuade me that Arcam can produce the same sound qualities I will listen.

With slimline dimensions of only x 18O x mm they are very room and wife friendly, the Minstrel Special Edition is a great looking and room friendly as any floor-standing loudspeaker could be. The reference axis is tilted upwards, to give an increase in effective height at the listening position, by mounting the rectangular enclosure on to a dedicated plinth or base through a wedge shaped insert.

This pair are in excellent condition and being the Special Edition have the upgraded woofer and advanced cabinet damping for improved performance. Spider , Feb 15, Tigerjones likes this. Up she goes. Vintage Royd Audio Minstrel Floorstanding Stereo Speakers / Rare / NAIM /

LOG IN. I have been toying with the idea of finding some used Royd speakers but can't find much of anything about them. I auditioned the Minstrel SE speakers and was floored by the quality of sound coming from those teeny little boxes. I can't pay new price kind of third system Edit Delete. Yeah right. I wondered if anyone else had thought of that one ;.

Good point about a source upgrade. Nait 1 and 2 are very transparant so any warmth you recall was more likely from other components. They are both quite a light sounding floor stander. I prefer the ELAs myself - still a very good speaker. Super efficient speakers can do this, like the Audio Note AN range but they are very expensive.

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic monaural and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room.

The Royd Audio minstrel speakers use a two way system and sound amazing. They have their own stands that are attached to each speaker and the stands are spiked. Made in Shropshire, England and rated at 80 W. Great Reviews online. Sumptuous exuberant bass with lively trebles that defy the size of the box. With the classic Royd Audio Minstrel there is no need for a big ugly sub.
