Astro A40 TR Gaming Headset + MixAmp Pro TR PS5, PS4 - Black

Title kinda says it all. Ive looked into astros. I think I might get them. The Astro A40 with MixAMP are awesome and extremely comfortable - one of the best sound quality too for those without a high-end audiophonic sound card. The MixAMP works like an external sound card, upmixing stereo to dolby digital surround.

This is USB and therefore bypasses any crappy sound card. Without the MixAMP, it's not worth it, unless you have a high-end sound card. Beyerdynamic DT Series are some of the best for those with a high-end sound card.

Use a separate microphone or pay overprice for the MMX series instead. If your sound card is very good quality then it's better to get stereo headphones with 3. Most surround sound headsets are a have Your ears will still pick up surround all from around you, distance, etc - think Dolby Digital Surround like you get in the movies. Look at ones from Corsair and Creative.

What about the Razer brand? I saw the Razer Kraken 7. It is also nice because they fold up so you can have ease of travel. Anybody have a say in those? I would advice against it In fact, I would suggest NOT going 7.

Understand that 7. Two stereo speakers can emulate all that 7. You will still be able to hear footsteps all around you, in every single direction, with distance as well. Therefore most HeadSets are simply stereo with a builtin mixer, encoding it up to surround. Stereo 2. However to get that, you need a MixAMP or quality sound card to encode it. Razer Kraken 7. Crap build and overpriced for what it is.

Siberia V2 Surround 7. The standard USB non 7. First question - Do you have a sound card? Second question - Do you want closed-ended private - mostly standard speaker or happy for open-ended speakers on the headset - giving a larger sound scape around you but others and mic chat can hear?

Internal sound cards standard on a motherboard suck. Gaming motherboards, such as the G1 Sniper series, etc, sometime have better sound cards. Low-end sound cards suck, sometimes your HeadSet or internal sound card can outperform. However, if you have a quality sound card, I highly recommend going Headphones over HeadSet, even Stereo 2. Very high-end sound cards work best with 3. However, much more expensive option. Beyerdynmic headphone tend to be great to couple with this setup.

I work with extremely high-end sound cards - audiophonics level So if you don't have a good sound card, next consider a MixAmp instead. Again this is actually Stereo 2. This is just compacted into the HeadSet itself. Can still do some excellent sounds for gaming, but you lose a bit of quality with music, etc. If you however are just using it for gaming purposes, either will do.

Robot or human?

Astro's just refreshed its high-end wired A40 headset and matching MixAmp Pro, a duo that mash together gaming talents with audiophile chops. The edition of the headset adds an updated quick disconnect system and re-tuned drivers for better bass response and less distortion, with Astro claiming that they're "the most accurate Astro headsets ever. The revised MixAmp Pro now allows game sound and incoming or outgoing voice chat to be livestreamed with a single cable, while also bringing new custom audio profiles, a smaller size and an optical port. You'll still have game-to-voice balance controls, Dolby 5.

if you have surround sound hooked up and of the speakers in the configuration.

Product was in good condition. All wires were good as well. The Mic quality will be downgraded. I notice a difference when having the headset plugged to the mix amp and having it plugged into just your controller Read full review Verified purchase: Yes Condition: pre-owned Sold by: headsetheaven.

How to Add Virtual Surround Sound to Any Headphones [Xbox, PS4, PC]

View Full Version : Audio - Headphone surround sound issues. Hi, So I've recently built a new PC and chose the Rampage V extreme as the board to use, one of the reasons was for the audio features. I was previously using an Astro a40 and mixamp over optical with Dolby Live for 7. Now the issue I'm having is that the surround sound just doesn't sound at all right in any game, I've tried playing with literally every setting in SupremeFX and just can't get it sounding good. For example if there is a sound directly behind me its ridiculously quiet then I turn slightly and it becomes stupidly loud and sounds like its coming from right next to me. There also seems to be this weird echo effect a lot of the time and I've no idea why.

A good pair of headphones is key to victory in many games - particularly shooters like Valorant, Fortnite and CSGO - where hearing a single footstep from a wayward enemy could mean the difference between a delicious chicken dinner and an ignoble defeat.
