I also want to use this PA for band practice and parties I'm wondering what PA's people are happy with and how many watts they are.

Messages: Uh, difficult to answer - you did not tell us how many people you want to get involved Why don't you go to your local music store and ask them if you can rent stuff.

They might also give you good advice what size you will really need. Ok, lessons I learned regarding p. My bands first p. Certainly not the best quality either due to lack of head-room. You may experience "treble-fatigue". For doing what you want to do and if you want to be able to gig, then, I'd consider at least a watt system with watt being ok for most small-medium gigs. Seperate amps and mixers being the optimum setup.

The problems we encountered using cheap gear was the lack of reliability and volume. Due to lack of volume we'd be pushing the speakers pretty hard and they would fail very quickly.

Going this route means having to get new speakers regularly and feedback and mic pop will just shorten their life even more. If you want to even come close to how you imagine it should sound, then, it's time to also look at sub woofers, so you have that deep bass to round out the whole sound. To help everyone hear themselves you will need a few floor speaker monitors, otherwise, you'll all be constantly turning the volume up cause you can't hear yourselves.

It's quite an investment, especially all the cables, stands and mics adding extra cost. My advice is research and purchase quality where possible especially if you're not going to have a back-up system. Getting it right the first time will help you out long-term. Yeah Stormy has it right. Save up and get good gear. This gear is 12 years old, I had it out a few months ago at an outdoor venue, the gear is still holding up fine, I've never had any trouble with any of it.

SloobyJane , Jan 22, Yeah, I'm gigging with Guitar Rig through my own self-powered speakers. We also put our vocal and drums through them.

For the bass player they lack subs, so I might be getting a dedicated sub for that still. For smaller gigs where I have to run my bands own sound, we usually take two bose L1 systems and stereo mix pad to put vox in left and right towers. I play guitar rig through the right tower, other player plays a vox amplug with some pedals hooked into the other tower don't laugh Bass usually runs through his amp and the kick is usually all that gets miked in this situation I've also do alot of gigs with house PA and I have always had compliments on tone He played a lick then I played the same thing through GR3 via the club's system I laughed and he told me where to go!

Are they high-gain type tones? If so, how do they really sound thru the Bose? I'd really like to try the Bose L1, but was worried that it wouldn't hold up to high-gain type tones. Also, which type of L1 were you using L1 Model I or II?

Were you using the ToneMatch engine? Thanks in advance for your answers! Tom Platz , Jan 25, Usually a vox sound or fender pushed amp tone. I've played all the amp models through the l1 but can't honestly give you usable feedback s far as high gain stuff. I will say that the Bose system has handled pretty much anything I've thrown at it and with a touch of class.

I would bet you applications would be no different. I have the 1st generation l1 and do not use the tone module. The thing to do is get the l1 and then buy a small mix pad if you need the extra stuff. The on board pre's are good. I gig nights a week and have been using the l1 for almost 5 years with "knock on wood" zero problems. Can't go wrong in my opinion Based on the advice of a local used equipment shop and the other responses before the mention of the Bose system, I've been thinking about assembling the components power amp, mixer, speakers myself.

I'll probably want to add subs, so running an 8 ohm speaker and an 8 ohm sub in parallel would put the resistance at 4 ohms, right? I may have to check one of those out It is less power than the L1, the actual tower is not "all" speakers from what I've read.

It is actually a 2 section tower with the bottom portion being an "extension" section to get the speaker section elevated. From my understanding it is intended for small acoustic venues and apps like business meetings for speaking applications.

Now, if that is what you are planning on, then by all means disregard the post, however if you are want something that can cover a seat area very nicely then I recommend the L1. Just wanted to give you a heads up when I read your were checking out the "compact" Bose system I too was immediately interested in puchasing it as a second bose system until I read the specs.

Best of luck to you! I think 8 Ohms is standard, 4 Ohms is commonly used for Bass. It will depend on your amplifier which ones to use. Check specs of your gear for compatibility. Show Ignored Content. Your name or email address: Do you already have an account?

Blackstar brings its small-amp knowhow to the popular amPlug range — could these be the best headphone amps on the planet? Since they launched back in , the amPlugs have been something of an incongruous hit for Vox and its parent company, Korg. In a world where everyone has a full amp and effects rig on their mobile phone, why do you need a small plastic doohickey that contains one amp sound and a few basic effects? For time-poor players who just want to get on with it, amPlugs are a compelling alternative to the option-paralysis of modern amp and effects software — especially when they make such a good fist of emulating that classic Vox tone. The Bass model is equally usable.

The amPlug is a palm-sized amp that plugs into the output jack of your guitar, amplifying it into your attached headphones. The amPlug uses a full analogue tremolo circuit and emulates the top-boost sound of a vintage Vox AC30 amp.
