Highlights: Spring 2017
The medical team is here to serve the people of Ventura while training the next generation of community physicians. The center consists of an established group of physicians, along with resident physicians who are part of the Community Memorial Health System Residency Program. He is a lifelong Californian, having graduated from the University of California, Davis, followed by medical school at the University of Southern California, and residency in the internal medicine primary care track at the University of California Irvine Medical Center.
After serving in the National Health Service Corps in a community clinic in East Los Angeles, he practiced in two multi-specialty groups in Modesto before moving to Ventura in He has an interest in wilderness medicine and was a long-time member of the Wilderness Medical Society and the National Ski Patrol.
Quenby grew up in the Sacramento area and in Northern Idaho. She now lives in Camarillo with her husband and two children. She enjoys cooking, reading, travel, and a variety of outdoor activities with her family. Horvath began his career in mechanical engineering and earned a B. He went on to earn his D. His professional interests include joint arthroplasty and trauma.
He is currently the Co-Program Director of the CMHS Orthopaedic Surgery Residency, where his focus is on bringing the orthopaedic community together to teach and to learn through conferences, journal clubs, and educating residents as a professional community. She went on to study Hematology and Oncology at USC after which she thought she would return to her beloved New England but has found a home here in California and has practiced medicine in Ventura and Oxnard since Many people have seen Dr.
Kelley in her initial specialty of Hematology and Oncology which she practiced for over 25 years. Now retired from specialty practice she misses her chosen profession of Medicine and has been pleased to join the Internal Medicine faculty as part time attending in the Internal Medicine clinic.
When not in clinic or thinking about medicine Dr. Kelley likes to sail, cook, garden and keep her nose in a good book.
She and her husband have 9 grandchildren. He completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California with a B. After four years, Sachil is excited to finally be moving back home to Southern California and looking forward to starting as an Internal Medicine resident at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, CA. Outside of the hospital, Sachil enjoys playing soccer and follows Arsenal of the English Premier League religiously.
His other interests including playing tennis and watching movies his favorites being Robocop, The Terminator series, and all of the Batman films no matter how bad some of them are. Although Sachil has not decided whether he wants to pursue a fellowship or work as a hospitalist in the future, he remains dedicated to helping his patients while learning as much as possible from them in return.
From there, she spent several years using her photography as a gateway to the world before returning to school to pursue her lifelong goal of becoming a physician.
During her time at CMH, she realized her aspiration to become an Internist and is thrilled to have been accepted to their residency program. She looks forward to furthering her growth as a physician within this community, and to serving her patients with respect and humility.
She is delighted to share this journey with her husband and son, who are eager to make Ventura their home. She is also indebted to her family, especially her parents, who have been steadfast in their support throughout her life. Ronald D. Pollack, M. Pollack received his MD degree from Chicago Medical School in , interned at Los Angeles County Hospital, , and completed his residency in Psychiatry in , with an emphasis on psychiatry in family care.
He is board-certified in General Psychiatry. Looking for a change of scenery, she moved to the Bay Area to attend Touro University — California where she earned a D. During this time, she fell in love with West Coast weather and culture. She also enjoys hot yoga, backpacking, cycling, and cooking.
She feels very fortunate to be living in Ventura and to be part of Community Memorial Health System, and she looks forward to learning and working with her patients, colleagues, and the faculty and staff at CMH. Javier Romero, M. Following his residency, Dr. Originally from a small town in Michigan, Dr.
Small attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and graduated with honors with a dual major in Anthropology and Zoology. After moving to California, Dr. Small opened a general practice in Ojai, treating a broad range of patients.
He developed a special interest in musculoskeletal problems, especially of the neck and back. This interest ultimately led him to leave Ojai in after eleven years of general practice and return to academia. His hobbies include traveling with his wife of twenty-nine years and their two children, golf, and horseback riding. He went on to a residency in general surgery at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX and is a board certified general surgeon.
Steen then moved to California spending two years completing a specialty fellowship in complexsurgical oncology at the world-renowned John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica where he served as the Chief Administrative Fellow and authored numerous publications and studies in the field of oncology.
He performs oncoplastic breast surgery and is well versed in the sentinel lymph node technique for both breast and skin malignancy. He is one of few surgeons in the area with extensive experience in complex pancreas and hepatobiliary surgery.
Steen looks forward to working at CMH more and can be reached for consultations through his office at Midtown Medical Group. My full name is Dr. Norair Adjamian, however most people know me as Noro. I was born in Yerevan, Armenia and moved to Glendale, California at the age of 3. My journey to becoming a physician has taken me to various parts of the nation and exposed me to the vast cultural diversity within our own country.
My curiosity in cultural diversity is a large part of my desire to help people through the medical arts. I enjoy traveling, the outdoors, tasty food, good music, painting, cycling, and most sports. As a Virgo and surgical resident I am very attentive to detail, serious when seriousness is called for, but definitely know how to have a good laugh. I am grateful to be given the opportunity to continue my medical training at Community Memorial Hospital and practice my passion in my home state.
Allen grew up in the mountains of Utah, Idaho and Washington where he developed a passion for the outdoors. At Seattle Pacific University he studied chemistry and biochemistry. As the son of an engineer, Dr. Allen grew up building and designing whenever he could which turned into full time work building electric guitars and guitar amplifiers after college. With his background in mechanical and biologic sciences, Dr. Allen early on found that Orthopaedics had a special draw.
In his free time he rock climbs as much as possible and enjoys continuing to build guitars and other woodworking projects. Mattie Arseneaux grew up in Newburgh, IN. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and pets. She also enjoys watching and going to sporting events especially swimming, baseball, football and hockey.
She also enjoys reading, knitting, spending time outside and hiking. She is very excited to start her general surgery training in Ventura, CA. She looks forward to exploring more of the west coast in her free time. Richa Asija was born and raised in Toronto — she is a proud Canadian!
Her surgical interests include trauma, cardio-thoracic surgery, and surgical oncology. Outside of medicine, she loves to dance, travel and spend time with her family. She is excited to stay in California for her surgical residency in Ventura and is looking forward to being a part of the CMHS family. Nathan Bascom was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Ohio Northern University, where he was a member of the varsity soccer team.
He developed an interest in orthopedics through personal injuries and the shadowing of orthopedic surgeons. In his free time, Nate enjoys hiking, lifting weights, playing sports and spending time outdoors.
Nate is excited and honored to be working for CMHS. Muhammed Bilal grew up in Houston, Texas. He earned his undergraduate degree from University of Houston with a major in Biology and minor in Psychology. Muhammed initially chose to pursue a path in Family Medicine, but he found that his true passion was General Surgery.
His hobbies include clay target shooting, hiking, traveling, and Muay Thai. A native Southern Californian, Dr.
During his time at medical school, Dr. Bogard conducted several research projects in total joint reconstruction while also volunteering with the sports medicine physicians for local sports team coverage. Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Dr. He is extremely grateful for the opportunity to pursue an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Community Memorial Hospital and is looking forward to serving the community of Ventura. Jonathan Chino was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He attended the University of Southern California for his undergraduate studies, and obtained a degree in neuroscience. After spending a year working as a medical and billing assistant in a vascular surgery clinic, he attended the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. His lifelong goal of becoming a surgeon has further narrowed into an interest in Advanced Laparoscopic and Robotic surgery.
Outside of the hospital, he enjoys playing any and all sports, reading, video games, and spending time outdoors. While at ASU, Ammer was heavily involved in research in bio-mechanics and physiology, most notably pioneering virtual reality experiment protocols and inventing a low-cost colorimetric glucose-testing device. His passion for more direct patient care was bolstered by his work with Syrian refugees both here and abroad. This led him to attend medical school at Midwestern University: Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine where he continued his work in refugee aid and in research, co-authoring several publications in the management of cystic fibrosis.
Outside of the hospital, Ammer can be found spending time with his family and his fiance.

The pulse of a culture is made palpable through the musical instruments it produces and plays. Historians widely acknowledged that African music has undergone frequent and decisive changes throughout the course of its history. What is today deemed traditional African music is almost certainly different from what was historically African music. Individual African musician, each with their own style and creativity, have always played an outsized role in African music.
