That was the line that made me stop the video What a moron. No necessary displays makes it look more vintage, but not "truly audiophile". I can't excuse this guy. They had enough time while shooting this video to get the dialog right. He knew what he was saying. Messages: 3, Location: RIP A fellow I know in Two Harbors bought one along with the matching universal player and so I got some first-hand experience with it. Short and sweet: You don't need to wait 5 years for one. I'll explain. The MX was the ultimate iteration of the MX, with gobs more power and a clever biasing system.
The CX was the penultimate CX, with more and better everything. They were, by almost any measure, better than anything that came before them, and quite likely better than anything that came after. For a statement piece product, the PMA seems woefully inadequate. However, you will have to get a BIG step-down transformer for one volt only , and they're pretty rare in the US. Further, when you can find one, it'll cost almost as much as the PMA, but, since it outclasses it in pretty much all regards, it's still a bargain.
As for the unit itself, the PMA is indeed a fine and enviable integrated amp. It's powerful, dynamic, and "feels" good. But all that can be applied to its fraternal twin, the PMA I applaud Denon on years plus of the brand. But really, they could have chosen better products or better prices to represent their years history.

I've heard it easily take down much more expensive Moon separates on a few different speakers in the same room. If I had need for another integrated amp, I would have bought the one I'm familiar with as a demo unit.

My only worry is that the seller couldn't get sound out of the PMAR - I'm hoping it's a simple fix. I guess I can't complain for what I got it for, but I fear for the worst. Good thing is that these seem to be easy to work on - does anyone know how the circuit board is mounted to the heatsinks? Would I have to decouple the outputs from the heatsink to get underneath the board?
