I have always been interested in OTL amplifiers. Vacuum tubes have excellent bandwidth and low distorsion without global feedback and resistance coupled tube amplifiers as used in pre-amps often don't use any feedback at all, as an example the distorsion of a resistance coupled 12AX7 with kohm anode resistance and V plate voltage is only 0. For power amplifiers a normal speaker is usually not directly connected to the output tubes, normal output tubes are high impedance devices that need to be connected to a load impedance in the kohm range to give high power. Normally an output transformer is used to transform the low impedance of the speaker to a more suitable load-impedance for the output tubes.

The story about the reliable low distortion OTL amplifier
Sine I informed public about Melquiades amplifiers I receive many emails from people asking me about the operation points of 6C33C. For whatever reasons people mistakably took me for some kind of 6C33C guru, which is am not. Moreover I could be hardly be a consultant to any electronic engendering subjects, probably with an exception of the very narrow fields where I personally happened did something and was able mostly accidentally to reach some conclusive results. I do use 6C33C for years and I experienced it in many amplifiers, I like this tube.
I will be rebuilding this shortly using the same transformers and auto biasing as per the VMOS line driver, and will update this page accordingly.
