The Volvo V40 is fitted with a rather dated system when compared to the competition. It makes use of a 7-inch screen which is mounted into its own area on the dashboard. This looks more inclusive and intended than the competitors but does little to hide the fact that it has limited functionality. The menu system is rather tricky to use and not as intuitive as one may like, and the tactile interface far too busy for our liking.
Too many buttons and not enough discernible difference is offered by the button layout which means that one has to divert their eyes from the road to the centre fascia, in order to find the desired button. The V40 is equipped with steering wheel mounted controls for basic audio functions and these end up being the preferred method of interacting with the system.
Audi A3. While not a touch screen, drivers interact with the menu and functions via the rotary command system in the centre console. This rotary dial is flanked by several shortcut buttons and toggles for easy access to frequently used functions.
The menus are relatively easy to navigate with a clear and concise home screen and sub menus are limited, making this system fairly easy to use with a little practice.

This tiled display allows for customisable tiles and offers a range of functions out of the box.
