There are three Deputy Speakers in the Riksdag. Together with the Speaker they are the presiding officers of the Riksdag. The Speaker and the Deputy Speakers meet on a regular basis to discuss issues relating to the management of parliamentary business. The Deputy Speakers take turns in presiding over the meetings of the Chamber and work of the Riksdag together with the Speaker.
They also represent the Riksdag in various contexts. Unlike the Speaker, the Deputy Speakers can vote even when chairing meetings of the Chamber.
However, they are not permitted to take part in debates when chairing a meeting. Otherwise they contribute to the work of the Riksdag under the same conditions as other members.
She has been a member of the Riksdag since and has, among other things, been a member of the Committee on Defence and Deputy Member of the Swedish Delegation to the Council of Europe.
Kerstin Lundgren is Third Deputy Speaker. She has been a member of the Riksdag since and has, among other things, been a member of the Committee on the Constitution and the Committee on Foreign Affairs. Kerstin Lundgren represents the constituency of Stockholm County.
