This little circuit is a transmitting and receiving converter transverter that converts a FT or similar multimode handheld transciever to the 14MHz amateur band. It should be a relatively simple matter of scaling coils and caps to convert other bands. If you choose to use the full transverter circuit then you will be pleasantly surprised at the spectral purity of the transmitted signals. It is a class C amplifier design, and therefore good for FM mode only. I have tried using the 2N in class A, but amplifier gain was down to about 4dB and it seemed a but pointless!
