I have a Plantronics Voyager to use in my office where it is quiet. The is larger, has a bright flashing LED, but is very comfortable, about the best sounding headset that you can buy and not expensive. The Plantronics has a single microphone and I do not expect it to perform as well as a headset with dual microphones that is specifically designed for noise canceling.
I note that noise canceling headsets I have tried seem to eliminate noise at the expense of quality sound so I figured on owning two headsets. Many headsets do not have sufficient earpiece volume to hear when there is background noise.
The Jabra has excellent volume, much better than most. It is effected by wind noise but this is also true of other sets I have tried like the BlueAnt V1, they all seem to get choppy to some extent.
The headset IS comfortable, it is small and lightweight and does not flop around, I find that I prefer it to the Plantronics for this reason when I am walking around. When you are on a call it will flash for the same short period and stop flashing and when it does flash, it is just a blue light through a small slit, not bright and annoying.
It is because of these reasons and the sound quality, that I usually put on the Jabra BT and keep using it all day, easy to forget that I am wearing it. I tried the Jawbone II first, with different eargels, over the course 3-hours, sitting at a table holding a regular conversation, the Jabra kept popping out of my ear every 5 or 10 minutes so I never got to the point of testing it.
Battery life for talk time is excellent. The multifunction answer button is easy to push but it is smaller than on most headsets and will take a couple of days getting used to finding its exact position in between the volume buttons but is not a issue. Multipoint technology works well with both of my phones. All in all the BT is very convenient and easy to use.
Price had no part concerning my purchasing decision, I was looking for noise canceling, period. I did not expect that I would use it all day long as I had expected to use my Plantronics as my main headset, but I like wearing it. Another bonus is that you do not have to talk loud to be heard by the other party.
I answer number toll-free lines during the day on my cell phone even when I am not at my desk so the quality of the headset sound and comfort are most important to me, not price. I find that I can not award 5-stars to any headset yet for noise cancellation as the technology does not appear to be there yet.
This seems to be due to the lack of having a microphone close to your mouth where the sound is going to be much louder than by your ear. When this is taken into consideration, most bluetooth headsets do a respectable job of just being a microphone, noise rejection is a much harder issue…. For just a few dollars more through Amazon than for an entry level headset, if you are looking for a headset for daily wear while on the move, the Jabra is an excellent value for your money.
