Messages XmasTree said:. Bugera tubes are just plain old chinese tubes its quite common for a chinese tube to go bad in an amp Bugera rejects a ton of them before the amps are tubed to begin with the point is: the amp is fine. Messages 27, Right now I just use two of the stock ones. One of these days I'm going to do a little testing with the various 34's I have and figure out which sounds best in this amp, going to try some decent 12AX7's as well.

My second Infinium died. First one powered on with no sound, so I exchanged it for another. This time, after playing it for 2 weeks or so, I powered it on at band rehearsal and then the light immediately went out.

The user serviceable HT fuse was fine. I suspect an internal fuse blew. But a new amp should not be blowing fuses. I wasn't even pushing the amp with an attenutor, just using its master volume. Perhaps the auto-bias circuit fuse is spec'd lower to keep things safe from blowing other components? I dunno. It's being returned for a refund. I'm done. Back to using my rock-solid, dependable Blackheart Hothead for now.

Senior Member. Messages 3, I have been looking at this amp as well. I'm a bit confused though. It is a two channel amp, yet it has no foot switch capability? Is that truly versatile? I have to go unplug, then plug in to another input to select a different channel?

Thanks in advance for responses. Spooner said:. Hi Spooner - That's correct. It's based on a vintage amp which does not have channel switching.

If you are talking about the Infinium , the parallel input "channel" drive and volume is a bit different from the cascaded gain input "channel". The old vintage amps where typically "jumped" between two of the I and II inputs. You use Volume 1 and Volume 2 to blend your tone. I preferred the parallel input when I had the amp. It barks and I like the tone. The cascaded input has higher gain and saturation - great for fast finger work. Someone else will need to confirm if that works on this amp, or not.

Is it versatile? Unsure exactly what you are asking, but if you are a "guitar controls on 10" player and do not use pedals, all amps are one trick ponies in that respect.

If you use different guitars, roll the volume and tones controls on the guitars and perhaps use some pedals through the front end, yes it can be versatile. Otherwise, you'll never get the natural amp saturation until it is pumping out well in access of watts through a 4x At that point, baby kittens die, the roof is on fire and the wife leaves!

Blix can go into details of how he tames his amp and controls the beast very well. Have fun and good luck getting one that doesn't continuously blow fuses Thanks for the quick response. Bugera should consider adding a foot switch. I'm no stranger to loud. I've had a love affair with my '94 twin-amp for 17 since I bought it new.

Pretty loud. I also have a Renegade Also fairly loud. I do not prefer to use pedals at all. Maybe a VOX wah from time to time. I think all the tone tweaks should come from the amp, the guitar controls, and my fingers. Bit of a purist that way I guess. I consider my twin and Renegade to be versatile. I guess the is versatile, just not on the fly. Too late, already bought it Footswitchable and reverb seem like additions that would makes the what it should be.

I'm already 3 new heads deep this month alone. I'm sure I'll find the blending feature to my liking. I originally searched the and landed on a thread that was talking about several different things.

I got confused, didn't realize the Buzz Lightyear endorsed Infinium was a series It seems like an interesting amp. Based on your responses, I'm sure I'll find it entertaining. I mis-spoke when I said "what it should be". It seems exactly as conceived. I just really want it to have a footswitch and reverb along side all the other features it has.

I guess I'm trying to make an orangoutang out of a gorilla Messages 4. The multiple accounts of the Infinitum simply not turning on one day has me more than a little spooked. I got one a few weeks ago, but have only played one gig with it so far. I really hope it isn't waiting for a big gig to crap out on. Questions: 1 I know that the plexi distortion-plus-distortion-times-distortion-to-the-power-of-distortion thing is fun and comprises most of the amp's identity, but I had trouble getting a good, loud clean sound out of it.

I need to have both. What setting did people use to get a nice, warm, saturated schwwiinnnnnnng type chime out of it? I had to use the parallel input with very little from the trebly channel and the volumes low to get a warm and clean sound.

It's currently really needly, like D.
