I found it very difficult to find many options when it came to aftermarket 2 ohm speakers. By using 2 ohm, I was able to retain the factory amplifiers. Last edited: Dec 31, Here are the JBL speakers that I used for the rear doors.
I have been very happy with them. As for the front speakers, they are a very strange size. About an 8" opening. The factory speaker is a 6. The easy thing to do is to get another set of the Jbl GTO speakers and make an adapter to get them to fit in the bigstock opening. Well it's not very easy. I found a set of 2 ohm 7" mid bass drivers that I made an adapter for.
I'll post up the brand once I remember what it is. Also the front door has about a 3" midrange speaker that I left in and continue to use. As for the two front tweeters, I used some silk domes which are smoother sounding than the factory ones.
Dec 30, 93 66 18 Curious as to front door replacements, as one is starting to cackle. I'll keep an eye on the thread. Yes my front surrounds on mine were deteriorated and were worthless. I made my adapters for the front out of some thick aluminum sheet. A friend said these might work in the front. Thinking about it Giving these a shot, along with the aforementioned speakers.
Will update as progress allows. Reactions: Jim Smola. Reactions: Faultedman DriverNumber22 New Member. Jan 3, 6 3 3 Ok so I had to deal with this Long story short my lessons learned My goal is just speaker replacement, not a fancy system.
You do not need a new amp. The amps wont work with the stock head unit. I tried both 2 ohm speakers and 4 ohm and the 4 ohm sounded a TAD better. I went with some kenwoods. I had to custom make a bracket which was cake with plexi glass. Dec 28, 83 28 Portland, OR stoutewebsolutions.

Feb 25, 6 3 3 I went the cheap route and replaced the surround on the factory speakers. My 12 year old fronts sound brand new. Reactions: BenK and Jim Smola. So is it best to use 2 ohm speakers if possible because the factory speakers are 2 ohm? I don't know much about these amps but it sounds like 4 ohms would work as long as they are standard parallel wired?

December 21, by David Talman. This customer reached out to us looking to have some Polk Audio door speakers installed, and fix up a previously installed Kenwood amplifier in his Toyota Tundra! After mounting the new speaker brackets, the new Component set, and a bit of sound deadening, we moved onto the rear doors! The Polk Audio DB 's got a similar treatment in the back! For the Amplifier repair, the previous installer left the amp loose underneath the driver seat. We decided to mount the new crossovers here on a simple ABS amplifier rack.

Unless you have a late-model vehicle that shipped with premium sound, there's a good chance that your car or truck is begging for a serious overhaul in the speaker department. Whether your speakers are starting to wear out or they were never that great to begin with, there are plenty of reasons to replace factory car speakers with aftermarket ones. The main argument against replacing speakers is cost, but installing direct replacement aftermarket speakers can be a great way to bump up your sound quality without breaking the bank. Although it can get expensive, if you upgrade to component speakers, you'll enjoy an improvement in sound quality. If you are looking at an overall upgrade to your car audio system, your factory speakers should be one of the first components to hit the chopping block.

Automotive wiring in a Toyota Tundra vehicles are becoming increasing more difficult to identify due to the installation of more advanced factory oem electronics. One of the most time consuming tasks with installing an after market car stereo, car radio, satellite radio, xm radio, car speakers, tweeters, car subwoofer, crossovers, audio equalizer, car amplifier, mobile amp, car amplifier, mp3 player, ipod or any car audio electronics is identifying the correct color car audio wires for your Toyota Tundra headlight bulb size you need for your low beam or high beam and save time.
