Electrical Engineering is the discipline that drives our increasingly-connected society. Electrical engineers design systems, devices, and algorithms that contribute innovative solutions across a broad spectrum of applications. The Electrical Engineering program offers the following concentrations: bioengineering, communications and networking, control and robotics, electronics, signal processing, and space-based systems. The graduates of our program develop reliable, secure, and high-speed communication networks and systems; apply modern signal processing algorithms to extract information from images, audio, video, sonar, and radio signals; apply control theory and robotics foundations to applications such as autonomous vehicles, humanoid robots, and multi-agent systems; design nanoscale devices for the highly integrated circuits that drive the Internet of Things, health-monitoring devices, smartphones, tablets, and modern-day computer systems; develop prosthetic devices, brain-machine interfaces, and systems to ameliorate neurological disorders. Students in this program will develop theoretical foundations, analytical capabilities, and practical hands-on skills in their chosen field of specialization. They will also develop the oral and written communication skills necessary to articulate their ideas and succeed as entrepreneurs, practicing engineers, or technical managers in high-tech companies.

It aims to provide the students with a wide spectrum of scientific knowledge and skills in Acoustical Engineering , from advanced modeling of wave phenomena to the sustainable development of silent transport systems in urban areas. They will contribute to reduce the environmental impact of noise, to enhance the performance of audio and sound equipment systems or to improve structural health monitoring devices. These domains are a source of highly-skilled jobs in a large number of industrial sectors such as transports aeronautics, automotive and rail , buildings and infrastructures, energy structural monitoring of nuclear powerplants, windfarms… , audio systems and musical instruments, oceanography and geophysics. As such, it aims to attract international students combining high motivation, above-average academic ability, task commitment and creativity in order to benefit from one of the highest quality training in Acoustics and develop the skills needed to successfully integrate industrial groups or scientific research laboratories. For such a purpose, the program has been designed to propose a tailored blend between classical lecture courses, practical work sessions and more innovative approaches such as flipped classrooms, problem-driven classes and group projects.

Audio Production

Financial aid available. In this course students learn the basic concepts of acoustics and electronics and how they can applied to understand musical sound and make music with electronic instruments. Topics include: sound waves, musical sound, basic electronics, and applications of these basic principles in amplifiers and speaker design. At Service Systems Design, you will learn how to plan and organise people, infrastructure, communication, media and components of a service, in order to improve its quality, the interaction between service provider and users and the users' experience. Engineering Acoustics

If a musical crescendo takes your breath away, or an eerie stage whisper gives you chills, then the sound designer has done their job. This complicated study of sound and construction is offered as a three-year graduate program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. First Year Each year of the graduate-level Sound Design program, you will be given responsibilities for at least three major production assignments in dance, drama, musicals or opera, with your role becoming more and more integral as you progress through the program. During your first year, you will be expected to work as an Assistant Sound Designer for the productions.
