Here, we chart eight of the most beautiful film posters ever to grace the walls of your local theatre. The Lobster, When posters for The Lobster — the first English-language film from Greek auteur Yorgos Lanthimos — were released in May, a certain kind of film fan rejoiced. The duo of posters, designed by the brilliant Vasilis Marmatakis, sees lead actors Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz embracing the empty silhouette of their partners, hinting at the complex themes of love and isolation that are explored in the film.

The lashing Eternals has received in reviews makes zero sense to me. The film boldly trots around the globe and through the centuries. It presents a plethora of intriguing characters who ask interesting questions about human nature. There are quips, lengthy and constant CGI battles, betrayals, close-fitting super-suits, and displays of awesome power. Like most big movies that emerge these days, Eternals could likely have benefited from a slimmed-down runtime and a less bombastic conclusion.
But in terms of Eternals being just too odd or out there, the Thor movies also introduced a lot of weird and godlike characters and strange mythology. But the pile-on that Eternals received from professional critics began to seem like a game of one-upmanship as to who could most witheringly declare the movie to be the death knell for the MCU as we knew it.
There was a sense that some were all too happy and ready to tear it apart with a claws-out viciousness we do not usually direct at superhero fare. I do know some things for certain. And it is not, in any universe, a worse movie than Thor: The Dark World.

Rihanna is the latest celebrity to be photographed in Rowan gloves, while in the current issues of British and Italian Vogue, Lady Gaga is photographed wearing elbow-length Rowan creations very dramatically and posting images of them on her Instagram handle. It marries the concept of sleeves with gloves in extraordinary ways.

A well-designed poster can draw you in, even if the rest of the movie falls short in important areas. So, here are eight films that had stellar, extraordinary poster art, but perhaps less-than-stellar cinematic execution. The poster for this redo version seemed to promise better; updated graphics with all of the mind-bending games that made the film so amazing. This poster illustrates lots of details with the broken glass, the futuristic robot soldiers and car, and the floating buildings. Plus, this particular poster cleverly portrays the images coming out from the main character, a play on the mind tricks that I assumed were involved in the movie itself. Immediately after Doug saves The Colony from utter annihilation in a very impressive fight sequence amidst huge explosions and gravity-defying jumps, the directors attempt one last time to approach the level of mind games from the original version. But, when we are already underwhelmed by this modernized version, the last trick from Lori is just a little too much.

It just means you have to think a little differently about what it takes to make a great poster. Icons are simple vector graphics designed to represent more complex real-world objects or concepts.

Some movies are beautiful enough to watch even without sound, and those also happen to be the ones that inspire us to redecorate our homes—or, at the very least, switch up our color palettes. With that in mind, we decided to round up some our favorite films for color and interior inspiration, from super saturated, lush palettes to soft, muted, and ambient ones which means we excluded some of the best black and white films—nothing personal to The Lighthouse , Un Chien Andelou, and A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night. The film opens with a man named Travis, who finds himself aimlessly wandering around the desert in a fugue state until a doctor on a remote settlement is finally able to track down the man's brother and son. Paris, Texas focuses on Travis's reunion with his son as they then embark on a road trip to locate their wife and mother, who has been missing for some years. It's a classic "road movie," think On the Road , Nocturnal Animals, and Thelma and Louise where the protagonist leaves his life behind in search of answers to his existential questions in the barren vastness of the open road—usually in the form of an American Southwest desertscape. And given that backdrop, it's a breathtaking blend of neon lights shedding an unexpectedly beautiful glow in seedy motel rooms and then wide open desert shots with serpentining freeways.
