Add rca connector to speaker wire
LOG IN. Just moved into a house with a 4 zone whole house speaker system, and I need to buy an amplifier. I have not been a able to find an amp that has RCA outputs to the speakers. This system was installed in , so maybe it was non-standard, or the technology has changed since then? I'd appreciate any advice - should I try to find an amp with RCA outputs, or should I cut the speaker wire to remove the RCA termninals, and splice in to wire to reach the amplifier? I'd also appreciate any suggestions for amps, there are 12 in wall Klipsch speakers split between 4 zones, looks like 2 speakers are the IW and the rest are either IW50 or IW

Because of the distances between car audio components, it might sometimes be necessary to make your own, custom-length RCA cables.
One of the best ways to do this is to connect RCA jacks to speaker wire. This is a pretty straightforward job that requires only a little bit of work and some simple tools. Take note of which lead is positive and which is negative -- this is color-coded on many speaker wires. Solder the positive lead of the speaker wire to the center pin of your RCA, and the negative to the outer lead. Allow the solder to cool, then slide the shell over the solder joints and screw tight onto the RCA jack.

The tiny junctions that allow for temporary electrical connection between components, present a considerable obstruction to the meager flow of electrons we recognize as sound or picture. A dirty connection can detract, most dramatically, from the performance of even the most carefully planned audio or video system. Over the years we've come to realize the important role cables play in system performance.
