If you're looking at this elevated level, you would be very wise to consider the Silbatone JIB Mk. However, these do differ from those you refer to by being fully integrated with a gain stage and attenuator input, which may or may not be to your preference.
I've spent a lot of time listening to both of these amp plus. Because we have very different taste, different speakers, different areas of audio reproduction that are important to us. To me the Wavac, Shindos, and the Reimyo are more musically involving then the others. I would need to know I dearly love an amp at this price point before I bought it.
Along the way I figured out that some B amps were great and some were not. I've shared all this with to say enjoy the journey, and then make the final decision. One of the best performances I ever listened to. Lots of people refused to leave the demo. They waited the 30min to the next one. But it is difficult to find a bad sounding B amp I think. Wavac has very good parts inside, probably one of it's secrets for real good sound.

Easy to improve on! It's just a popularity item-- because the power level fit a bunch of cheaper speakers that "Hi-End" audio Saloons sold-- mostly in Europe-- and in Japan, where apartments are space-limited, but the B is a serious compromise when it comes to actually reproducing music-- it's euphonic, and not very accurate.
It's just not a great tube. You can still get decent sound out of one, and good reliability also. The older Western Electric is the best one--, and not very good. Find a "Music Dandy" A integrated. Use vintage RCA tube with the cooler fins. Do some tube-rolling with the midstage and input tubes.. It's Bang For The Buck! I've got to wonder if this is just hearsay or have you actually listened to these tubes.
There was really no contest the AVVT was a clearly superior tube. That said, the B is a wonderful tube and I have spent countless hours enjoying my system. My opinion is that if you really believe that the B is "not very good" then you haven't really listened to it in a system that is complementary to it. The alternative is, of course, that you are just making the statement to get a rise out of a fool like me a troll in other words.

Bruce recognized that there remained demand for a "statement" speaker after the Paragon ended production in This demand was almost exclusively from Japan, so it was decided that a follow-on to the Paragon should be targeted at that market. The overall system was designed for a specific sonic character that appealed to the Japanese market.
In general, it is marked by an overdamped bass response with the lowest octave gently rolled off. The bass is expected to extend to the deepest octave but not at the same volume level as the upper bass. This is not meant to be a euphonic characteristic, but rather a reflection of typical Japanese listening rooms.
Their smaller rooms, compared to North America, tend to equalize the in-room response to result in a bass response that is relatively flat.
The Everest was an immediate success. They were never marketed outside of the International Division and were almost exclusively sold in Japan. For anyone having one of these remarkable beasts whether in Japan or anywhere else , I strongly recommend driver "blueprinting"-- which would include new wires inside the midrange compression driver cases, new insulation in the midrange unit cover careful-- it must not touch the driver diaphragm-- at ANY time , crossover updating, and all new wiring across the entire system.
The original wiring required an amplifier of about 40 watts or more, to get a good in-room SPL. And I considered the sound "colored". Wiring and good parts is everything-- especially in the Paragon, where wire runs are long. Double runs two conductors per leg were used for system inputs, and for woofer wiring. Single runs went to the midrange units, and also to the Ring Tweeters.
Careful tuning, tests, and evaluation followed this effort, and today the Paragon is both seamless and dead-accurate musically. I should add here that Alnico magnet strength must also be measured, unless one wishes to employ JBLs latest 2" midrange unit, the new version of the tweeter, and the new SVG woofers.
The advantage of the new drivers is superior thin-sliced magnetic materials that do not discharge over time, and by their sizing and shape allow more precise voice-coil gap tuning and placement. Audio people in Japan are much like we are in that they have used and tried just about everything. The taste for expensive and superior JBL models did not come from apartment dwellers exclusively, although some guys did install the monsters in their apartments.
The taste for JBL was, and is-- because of sheer excellence in reproducing the real, live feel of music. The B is limited in high-end and low-end extension-- and dynamics as compared to only the best-- it isn't bad here in the original design, and the 5 volt filament is markedly inferior to a 2.
Balanced A. In such a case, the B is not a bad choice, and the AVVT choice is certainly superior-- in any tube that Alesa made. I was speaking in terms of what is best. That does not mean that "good", or "Better" cannot be used as well as "best".
You can get really good audio satisfaction out of a good B. But is it the best obtainable?

PMC Loudspeakers, a UK company known for its professional and consumer active speakers, gained access to the original master tapes of the seminal Miles Davis recordings, and through an amazing process have remixed a Dolby Atmos version of unsurpassed and in fact never before heard distinction. Kind of Blue was recorded on three tracks in , and both the studio performance and the analog recording were of superlative quality. But we have never before had access to that recorded quality because of wow and flutter on the master tapes. This excellent sounding room, Studio C, was then miked to capture the ambient sound to the sides and rear of the room, and compiled with the primary channels to produce a 10 channel Dolby Atmos mix. PMC set up a room at the Munich show to replay this mix, featuring a similar configuration to the LA studio, with PMC fact fenestria speakers and an array of PMC Wafer on-wall speakers for surround and height channels and a selection of its professional subwoofers. We heard the Atmos mix compared to the stereo mix, and to previously available mixes so that we could assess the quality of the studio remix.
