It'll be used to power my Wharfedale Pro Delta 15 tops. I realise this isn't deemed professional equipment but I'm trying to get as much advice as I can to make some informed decisions. If the specs are correct, the Wharfedales really need W. Try putting 1 cab on the Crown in bridge and see how it sounds. If they really can take a lot more power, you need to find a bigger amp. Thanks DjLeco -- they do sound neutral, I will agree, but I was not aware it includes a limiter. I've always been made aware that the CE and CE aren't Crown's best production and I am interested in upgrading to something more professional when the funds allow. But for now the CE is still working, albeit a little noisy when the fan gets going, but it holds it's own and I don't have many complaints about it.

Having said that, I do like the idea of having DDT for peace of mind. Yes the CE range have a compressor-limiter driven by the error amp, which means that the clip light is actually telling you the amp is in gain reduction, not that it's clipping.

The CE range are quite pretty when they fail because all the components that spontaneously blow are a bit like a fireworks party behind the grille. Sorry to drag this up again. I've decided to take Earplug's advice and see how the speakers sound with more power either by running bridge mode, or using the Peavey CS as I plan to in the long run anyway.

My plan is to replace the Crown CE running the tops with the Peavey CS that I currently have on bass duty, and then find a really quite capable, more meaty amp that'll serve bass duty running the Wharfedale Pro Delta 18B bins -- any recommendations on this? I won't say price isn't a factor -- I know if I did you'd probably respond with how amps can vary in price from hundreds to tens of thousands and probably even more.

Seen some posts praising the Proline , seems good for the price. Just to add, weight isn't an issue for me. I'm attracted by the Proline though, sounds like it does a good job on bass duty.
