Amplifier integrated Gamut Di150 180W 8ohms 360W 4 ohms

David, I've heard Vitus amps and they impressed me Belgian hi-fi show. Your SIA is a wonderful design. It weighs 42 kg but is not higher than 13cm if I'm not mistaken. Does it have the power to drive your S5's to high volumes?

And does it run very hot? Hi Bart, yes it's fairly heavy relative to it's size. Most of that weight is from the massive 1. I wasn't sure if it would be able to properly control my S5's in my medium size listening room and move enough air. Fortunately it was obvious on the first day that the Vitus even in Class A mode was able to properly control the S5's and drive them to levels that would get me thrown out of the apartment building!

Consequently, those 50 Class A watts 4ohms feel a lot more powerful than the specs suggest. The real test imho is home theater. I find connecting my Oppo via single ended cables as opposed to xlr's to my Aesthetix , I have to crank up the volume more than with my main source. No stress. Balanced cables as we know have twice the signal noise than single ended cables which is worth between db in line level gain.

Switching to single ended cables means the clipping point will remain exactly where it was. The only difference is the position on the volume control where that occurs. The SIA's volume control has an unusual topology which uses a series of fixed resistor networks which employs relays to switch between the resistor networks. Across all its 88 steps a fixed resistor is in series with the signal path. It's not a completely linear volume control.

The steps are larger at the beginning, smaller at the end. Also the volume settles slightly momentarily before rising up to the new volume level which Vitus says prevents "pop" in the output, though it doesn't take long to get used to.

Even after a few hours in Class A mode, it is comfortable to touch the top of the chassis. Those huge heat fins work well. Also giving the amp plenty of room above and below to breath helps. No complaints from me! Thank you David. The pairing with Isophon monoblocks and with Avantgarde Acoustic stereo power amp we heard was outstanding. I think it might be one of the best choices with Magico also. It has a fantastic transparency but still doesn't sound harsh.

I think the Magicos are sensitive to that. There might be a Vitus Audio in my future Looks like many here are Macs lovers. Sorry, I am new and currently have the Marantz Pearl Lite for my bedroom and an old Accuphase E for my living room.

YW Bart, Hans tells me the SIA has the same sound quality as the Signature Series stereo amp for example though the integrated is a bit more 'romantic'. My Dealer thinks Dartzeel and Vitus are the best matches.

I've also heard the RI a few times and despite being at a much different price point, it retains the basic house sound and given it's tremendous power, is very good value imho.

I'd like to give the RI a try. If it's as good as the reviews say and anywhere near the Signature series, I'm sure it's a real winner. Much less expensive too. He has a LOT of brands. Matt, the RI is definitely worth an audition for the coin. Don't read too much into the fact the SIA has "only" 25 watts. It has an efficient 1. I've found the drives my 87db S5's comfortably. If you read my earlier post, I explain why Vitus' UI-core tranny is more powerful than traditional toroids. Cheers, I'm sure you're right and I'll bet it sounds great.

Also you have the AB mode to fall back on if you ever really need to crank it. As an example I am using MBL C31 with the Zeel and they surprisingly work very well together; the C31 does have a warm-analogue type sound. Just to say I am very happy with the as long as I let it warm up for several hours first lol and still a keeper in my mind, but you never know maybe sometime in the future I may be curious enough to consider auditioning the SIA with the C31 CD player-DAC.

Just wondering if the combo may be over the top in terms of the "warmth-analogue" presentation. TBH I cannot think of any other integrated that would possibly replace my heard plenty in my time.

Thanks Orb. It also looks beautiful imho. As a rule of thumb, Vitus sounds best with other Vitus gear. It is also a bit more relaxed in presentation than the Ayon. I was surprised to find the Aesthetix has good synergy with the rest of my system, so no regrets. That system sounded haunting. There seems to be a cumulative positive affect by adding more Vitus components.

But the SCD is a very good player. Thanks David, sorry I forgot to post a link to this thread from the S5 one so I guess you had to hunt around a little bit : What you say has put my mind at rest, knowing your combination has good synergy and not too much of a good thing I feel pretty comfortable in the future auditioning the SIA with the MBL C31 if I ever do get the itch with the CTH Thanks again : Orb.

I'd try to get an home audition of the Vitus if possible, or atleast bring your MBL into dem with an SIA to see if you like the synergy. As for your question of whether to spend more on your integrated or digital, i'd spend more on my integrated amp initially as if push came to shove, you could get great sound quite inexpensively via computer audio run through a decent USB dac as a stepping stone and keep your overall expenditure below your Insurance ceiling.

And the best part is, from my experience the SIA sounds good with almost every speaker i've heard it matched with. It is remarkably flexible in that regard. Taken me ages to finally find for my tastes the perfect amp and that only happened once I went up to the price point of the Dartzeel. Cheers Orb.

McIntosh MA my favorite. Integrated amps seem to make so much sense. More bang for the buck. I bought a Simaudio i last year. Love it! Liked mine too, except had too many issues. Had to send it back to simaudio 3 times to get it properly fixed.

No issues with the actual service, but that left a sour taste in my mouth. Otherwise a nice sounding amp. That's terrible! Mine has been flawless. I know a couple others with them that have also had good luck. Hopefully the third time was lucky for you! I have a Gato amp integrated amp on order from our master of the anything audio universe. After it is received and properly burned in I will be happy to post my impression of it if anyone is interested. Looking forward to your review. They were impressed! I'm considering one for a vacation house system and it seems to offer a lot for a relatively small outlay. This system is an absolute delight, we watch movies through it as well using the PS3.

Sent from my iPhone using A. Aficionado I have a Simaudio Evolution i-7 driving a pair of Avalon Arcus speakers. It's a wonderful amplifier, the only serious integrated I have ever owned.

Bob, glad to hear that you still have it and that it's bringing you happiness. A good piece of gear, indeed. It sounds perfect on the Avalons. Thinking of getting a Moon CD player to go with it.

I have an oldie, but goodie and not much of a "looker", a Plinius factory upgraded to MK1 specs. I use this to drive my Shahinian Obelisk2's, which can be a bit of a pig to drive properly. The Plinius does a fabulous job and sounds quite wonderful.

I'm thankful Arcam put so much into such an affordable piece.

I was told by someone who should know that, in general, a computer screen will have a wider color gamut than a print. I wanted to get a second opinion from this forum. Is this true? I thought it was the opposite. Printer profile over Adobe RGB. Now here's the comparison of the adobe RGB colour gamut in white wireframe over the printer.

Until, that is, the Gamut Di LE came his way. So, where to begin? Judged on looks alone, this amp is a winner, but it gets better when you power it up. Moreover, the soundstage is seamless in its presentation. Whether it was the trombone, trumpet, violin or clarinet, the reproduction was utterly natural and engaging — impressive! Highly recommended. Gamut is one of the most low-key manufacturers we know. The Danish brand has been around since the s, but has never made a wide impact, which is a shame, because it makes some excellent products. We went to visit the company earlier this week. See all our Gamut news and reviews. We were expecting a bustling factory, but what we got was an office with a meeting room, a larger area where finished products are kept some still to be boxed and some space reserved for development work. Servicing is also done here.
