If the device is not powered on it will not be detected, I noticed that windows will not detect my ipod until the ipod botts itself up.

Sadly, this is something I've brought up on these forums a few times, but generally haven't gotten a response from nvidia on. It has to do with how your videocard sees the HDMI connection, and more often than not, it will completely forget that its connected due to something in Windows telling the rest of the computer that the device is disconnected.

This goes back all the way to Windows Vista. Supposedly it can be fixed via drivers, but nothing has happened so far. Thanks for the responses.

Whatever happens when you switch your active monitor causes the system to re-detect those HDMI devices. I figure there has got to be a service or function that coincides with this that we may be able to simply reload. Right now the quickest way for me to re-detect is to create a shortcut in Ultramon for switching my active monitor. This is still not ideal, and I would love to find out a shorter method. I'm taking a guess, but I think Windows checks all refreshes HDMI connections, so it's like Windows is thinking "let me see if some new hardware was detected.

But I would love to find a service or command to run within Windows, that's what I'm hoping to find in the long run. I don't think I've tried to refresh within Device Manager either, something else worth trying.

It seems alot like my issue! PataPon -- I posted on your thread. Let me know if it helps. If anyone else can think of some ideas to try for my issue, let me know. Kinda necropost, but It worked well until I switched off my TV - the sound has disappeared. This is not a Windows issue or not Windows only , because on Intel graphics sound remains when I switch off TV or monitor. I think I had a similar problem and finally found how to solve it. I have one of the nvidia hdmi outputs connected to a yamaha receiver, which is connected to a tv.

The second hdmi nvidia output is connected to the pc main monitor which include small speakers. When the tv is on, then everything works ok: I can use the tv as a pc extra monitor, and I can listen my pc content e. However, when I turn off the tv, the sound is routed towards my main monitor. In order to listen the pc sound through the yamaha receiver, even with the tv off, what I have done is: -Open the nvidia control panel - Go to "configure multiple screens" I suposse this is the correct translation.

There it says: select which screen do you want to use. I can see my main monitor selected, and yamaha coorporation rx-vXXX deselected. The yamaha rx-v Hope it helps! KinMye said: Hi. Hey there. So my computer is not detecting my receiver in the nvidia control panel when I go to set up multiple displays.

The receiver is also not being detected in my Playback Devices. Oddly, I am using it now for the video. I can only use my monitor speakers, even though it's plugged into the receiver via hdmi. Found a solution that works for me, change your resolution to something else and then change it back.

TV re-appears in playback devices it disappeared every time I turned it off. I got this same problem on my Yamaha reviever. Swapped out for a Yamaha TSR , everything worked fine until the first restart of Win10 when the audo just stopped. I tried everything else but the fix was Turn on the TV first, then computer.

After that everything has been working fine again. For my Yamaha receiver, the factory reset used was This was helpful and I tried it. I think it helped at the time, but ended up mostly setting the speakers to the side as I had a neighbor complaining aggressively about daytime music so I ended up switching to headphones most of the time! So I have a really nice receiver with decent speakers I almost never use Thanks to folks posting on this thread. Good clues here. I'll play around and report back on what ends up resolving my situation.

I need to document my details further So it seems from time to time, that audio to my receiver just stops working. I switch to my headphones late night early morning, and go to the receiver during the day.

I turn the receiver off when I think about it. So far just rebooting works, next time it happens I will try changing screen resolution. Didn't see anything about such audio issues in the release notes for the below driver. TheHammer said: KinMye said: Hi.

Thanks to you man, I solved a problem I had for years, and tried to settle it myself. You lightened up the path as I had no idea that Geforce commanded everything including HDMI ports and how they are utilised. This works for Marants Receiver NR and most receivers. Thank you my friend. Thanks KinMye. You are a life-saver. This solution worked for me. This problem started occurring randomly a month ago Sept ? While restarting the computer normally fixed the issue, it is just tedious to have to repeatedly restart your computer for something so simple.
